Brian Wilson reporting ... GOP saying to Democrats, "We are ready to move to a full subcommittee investigation of Tom DeLay, as soon as you agree to the ground rules."
He'll be exonerated.
Republicans truly do eat their own...

This is exactly what Mr. DeLay asked for.....he will be exonerated.
Tom Delay is begging them to investigate him. He knows he did no wrong, but the same can't be said for Jim "Baghdad" McDermott
No it is a trap for the Dems. They will not agree to the rules.
Look at those names on that committee; who the hell ARE those people?
"Republicans truly do eat their own."
He's sinking. Yesterday he criticized a Supreme Court Judge for using the internet. It was bizarre.
Even if they DO, the rats have never met a rule/law, etc that they didn't wantonly break anyway.
Call every freekin Democrat who had wives, husbands or kids working on their campaigns. Memo to Nancy Pelosi: Bring your check stubs.
I was thinking "Great lets all gather round and shoot the wounded" but that works too.
Tubbs Jones was the one who filed to reject Ohio's electoral votes, along with Sen. Boxer.
C'mon, Dems. The ball is in your court now.

Highlighting the hypocrisy will be delightful!
Let the games begin! Bring it on!
The only one I know is Stephanie Tubbs Jones - she was one of the leaders of the gang that was howling about how Diebold help steal Ohio for President Bush. A real leftist nutcase.
Wrong interpretation....The house Rs have been pushing for this so that Delay could be exonerated, the Dims have been fighting it
Goodbye Republicans, it was nice knowing you.
I hope so, but with the lack of spine by the Republicans lately, I can see this easily spinning out of control.
So I take it you would rather Delay take the whole ship down with him?
Doesnt make sense to me, I guarantee if 2006 rolled around and Delay hadnt been taken care of, we would all be crying how we had the chance to take care of Delay and now we dont have the House.
Remember how the Stamp scandal ruined the dems. They refused and refused to investigate until it was too late.
Finally! Maybe now we can put this to rest... until the next round of unfounded accusations against a GOP leader.
Gene Green, Texas
Didn't he play for Pittsburgh during the "steel curtain" era?
That sorta sounds like Chris Shays or some other Rino.
You have a good point. 2006 is coming up fast and furious we need to get this out of the way so the Dems can't hold it against us!
Yeah, but those are the spineless pubbies in the Senate. The house seems to have a few stronger republicans. I'm still live with Voinivich....and others, and have sent emails and made phone calls several times today.
Ethics Panel to Open DeLay Investigation, Chairman Says
(Washington-AP, April 20, 2005) Retreating under pressure, Republicans on the House ethics committee said Wednesday they were ready to open an investigation into allegations of wrongdoing against Majority Leader Tom DeLay.
Four of the five Republicans on the committee were ready to move ahead, said Rep. Doc Hastings, the panel's Republican chairman. The panel also has five Democratic members.
The Republicans were "prepared to vote at the earliest opportunity to empanel an investigations subcommittee to review various allegations concerning travel and other actions" by DeLay, he said.
The ethics committee has authority to start an investigation based on information it receives "through public and other sources," Hastings said.
Hastings made his announcement in hopes of breaking a deadlock that has prevented the ethics panel from getting down to business for the year.
There was no immediate reaction from Rep. Alan Mollohan of West Virginia, the senior Democrat on the panel.
DeLay has said repeatedly he hopes to appear soon before the panel to clear up questions about his actions. The Texan has come under intense scrutiny in recent months, in part over questions about overseas trips he took over the past several years.
The ethics committee admonished him last year in connection with other allegations. House Republicans unilaterally pushed through a change in the ethics rules in the following months - changes that Democrats argue were designed to shield the majority leader from further scrutiny.
As a result, Democrats have refused to allow the ethics panel to begin work in the new year.
How was it bizarre?
He criticized Kennedy for using the Internet to see how other countries are doing things and using their opinions as a basis for his opinion - SCOTUS Justices are supposed to use our own Constitution as the basis for decisions, not the ultra-leftist Europeans...
Circular firing squad.
I hope this opens the dems up for the same scrutiny and any and all investigations of their trips and salaries to their families!!!!
The Hammer for President '08.
I would like a judge to rule on a case based on the testimony in the case, the briefs filed with the court in the case, the history of case law from prior cases, and the text of the laws applicable to the case, and the constitution.
None of those are found by searching the web. The internet is a cool place to get information, that sometimes is actually accurate. It is not the repository for the information you should use to rule on US law.
It may be true that some of the information I cited above is contained in online form on the web in a way that can guarantee accuracy -- but that wasn't what Kennedy meant when he said he used the internet, and that wasn't what DeLay was talking about.
If I ever heard a judge in a court case say "Well, I wasn't sure, so I looked on the internet and found some interesting information", I too would want to find a different judge.
Shhhhhhh! ;^) Don't info the stupid Dems. Their hypocritical and unethical @sses are sure to be bare.
to quote Shrek "Hey Everybody-Grab Your Torch and Pitchforks!!"
yes, this is very good news. He has nothing wrong. Nothing that lots of demoRats have done themselves. An investigation is exactly what is needed to get this behind us.
I thought he danced on the Gong Show.
Strange, I thought his criticism of our Kennedy was dead on. He was really attacking Kennedy for using International Law.
Good move by the Republicans.
Delay wants this.
The Dems won't agree to the rules and will continue to refuse to show up to meetings and, hence, continue to stall the committee.
The Dems, according to their own admission, don't have any actual evidence against Delay.
This will help make the dems bogus charges look...well...bogus.
"He criticized Kennedy for using the Internet to see how other countries are doing things and using their opinions as a basis for his opinion - SCOTUS Justices are supposed to use our own Constitution as the basis for decisions, not the ultra-leftist Europeans..."
I didn't read it that way, that the two are connected. But if his internet comment was connected to the foreign law matter I might change my mind.
Excalty, don't go into a hyperbole everytime a news item happens. If Tom Delay wants an investigation, I have no problems with it. We all need to calm down..
Stephanie Tubbs-Jones is a relative of the Creature From The Black Lagoon and as smart as a bowl full of raisins.
Tubbs Jones has some problems of her own it seems:

The way I read the Judge's internet comment was as from an older fellow prideful he can operate this internet thingy.
Evil MSM Bias "Retreating under pressure".
This calls the democrat's bluff. They won't let the panel meet because they say the rules change was made so the republicans on the committee would rule against an investigation of DeLay.
Now the republicans on the committee are on record that they will allow an investigation of DeLay.
So there is no reason for the democrats to not show up.
Thanks. I changed my opinion after reading the other responses and realized I was in the wrong.
Ha! Ha! What goes around comes around.
