Bring your Child to Work Cancelled?

Posted on 04/21/2005 4:38:01 AM PDT by southlake_hoosier

Excuse the vanity. I needed to know if this is common, or just local. At work we recieved this message yesterday:

Due to the change in many school policies, "Insert Company Name" will no longer be participating in the Bring Your Child to Work Day.

Is anyone else seeing this happen as well?

They just changed ours to be just for teens, and it's a career theme now. Good riddance. I didn't need all them nosepickers hanging around anyway.

Sounds like good news to me!!!

What a waste of time at the office and the loss of a school day.

Sounded like PC run amuck.

If they can't use it to advance feminism, they drop the idea.

Maybe we should try the same idea with civil union bills that are currently designed to give special rights to homosexuals-

We should make all benefits of civil union legislation available to live-in lovers of any sex and everyone who has a parent or relative living with them.

I must be getting mellow in my old age ;)
I actually like this idea. Granted I'm single and have no kids, but I've really enjoyed having the kids of women I've dated do stuff with me. One in particular, who I spent 5 years with, I remember her coming to my office. I actually had a strong sense of pride about it. Another woman and my daughter went with me when I ran marathon. They met me at mile 16 or so and she gave me a quick snack and water. Later I learned that the youngster was really proud that she knew someone that was in the race. She is currently running track and xcountry in college ;)

I'm preparing right now for my presentation at Career Day at my kids' school (a jr. high). We're taking our jobs to the schools - a better choice, methinks.

Not ours; very family-friendly company, starts it at age eight. I plan to have my Josiah (9) come for part of the day, and look forward to meeting others' kids.

Oh, and we homeschool -- so it's a field trip!

IIRC, it used to be "take your daughter to work day" but then they changed it to include boys.

I assume the educational femnists, realizing they couldn't win, just got rid of the whole thing.

Yeah, as soon as it was no longer Make-Your-Son-Feel-Like-A-Second-Class-Jerk Day, it was doomed.

What, did they fire all the nose pickers that worked there? There is no place for nose picking bigotry on this forum!

I'm borrowing from WC Fields:

"Why don't you go back to reform school, you little nosepicker?"

When it was only "take your daughter to work day," I used to try to get to the girls and whisper, "working in an office sucks - marry young and have lots of babies!"

Bwahahahahaha!

Me? LOL, I was married once, lasted about 6 months, that was about 32 years ago. I actually wouldn't mind settling down some day. Maybe in a few more years.

Can't have all those young skulls full of mush exposed to capitalism--even for one day.
