LIGHT UP THE SENATE SWITCHBOARD FOR BOLTON AND THE JUDGES (Laura Ingraham going after RINOs)
Laura Ingraham Show ^ | April 21,2005

Posted on 04/21/2005 8:11:48 AM PDT by ArmyBratproud

It is absolutely critical that we send a message to the U.S. Senate. The presidents' nominees deserve an up or down vote. The nominee to become UN Ambassador John Bolton is now twisting in the wind because of squishy GOP Senator George Voinovich, Bush-critic Chuck Hagel, and others who have waffled. And 20 percent of the President's appellate court nominees are suffering the same fate. Will the GOP start acting like its in the majority or continue to be rolled? Make your voices heard. CALL YOUR SENATORS NOW. For the numbers click here.

TOPICS: Announcements
KEYWORDS: bolton; ingraham; un
Laura is going after the RINOs big time today on her radio show. Her callers have hammered them as well.

Prett arrogant of Voinovich to hold up the proceedings given that he'd not even attended previous sessions. Oh well, he's a Senator, right ?

If Bolton isn't confirmed, the RATs have won and the GOP will have a hard time getting anything done. There will be No Supreme Court nominees from this President that will get through and the RATs will filibuster all they want without any retribution. No judges at any level will get through. Chafee and Voinovich shouldn't be making public statements about Bolton. If they don't like him, go to the Chairman of the committee, Luger and tell him. All that is going to happen by postponing the vote in the committee is to get more crap from the RATs -- none of it on issue or substance.

Bolton is a litmus test. He needs to be confirmed. There is nothing in the character assassination attempts that have been running through the MSM that should prevent him from getting confirmed.

GOP: FIGHT BACK OR GIVE UP!!!

I just called Hagel asking him to quit acting like a politician with wh ambitions and vote like the conservative we elected him to be. I also called Ben Nelson and reminded him he is up for election & we are watching his every move with all of the presidents nominee's-judges also. If he votes with dems, the dog catcher will be able to beat him for senate.

I've been listening. Was disappointed she didn't hit hard yesterday, but she's making it up today.

Republicans act like the Majority or we make them the Minority. Reps, what is it going to be? Yellow streaks down your back or secured re-elections? Your choice but do not think you are going to ride this out without action.

I got throught to Senator Santorum's office and expressed concern about the latest article in the Hill re. the Senator backing off of supporting the constitutional option. I was actually told that was false, BUT that the Senator felt the Republicans had to do a better job in the PR department. (something I actually posted on FR earlier)

I am on hold as I type this with Senator Voinobitches office. Wait, just got through. I conveyed that the Republicans actually won the last election. I also conveyed that after having campaigned vigorously for the Republicans last election it was dissapointing to see the Senator de facto making the Republican victory meaningless. I was thanked for my comment and bid a very polite "good day."

Here is a good site for contacting Congress

http://www.visi.com/juan/congress/

Write to the Senators on the appropriate committee. Contact the senators from your state. Be respectful. Don't email. Write a letter, or send a Fax. Keep on their tail. Do it more than once.

I kept their Fax numbers on file, so I could send a message daily when necessary.

Had someone call in the middle of dinner last night for donations to the GOP senatorial committee. When I said we weren't too happy with GOP senators right now and were giving to local causes where we could get more bang for our buck the poor guy had to leave his cue cards... he couldn't do it ... just kept stammering about stopping the democrats. Yeah, right - like the senate has even been TRYING to do that.

Dito that, we have no Senator as far as a lot of us are concerned.

Use the number and call the White House Staff, tell them to work to see the Constitutional option is used! I have called them on many issues, you won't get Rove, but you will get a Republican who works directly with all the Senators.

Thanks for that link. Here's my email to them:
I have contributed to various Republican causes over the years. However, I am getting fed up with the attitude of Republican Congressmen. You act like you're in the minority.

As a result of this, I'm stopping my contributions until the following items are resolved:

1. Adopt the "constitutional option" so we can get some decent judges on the bench. We'll need this eventually for SCOTUS, why not get it over with?
2. Approve John Bolton's appointment to ambassador to the UN.
3. A. STOP the avalanche of criminal aliens pouring over our southern border.
3. B. Deport criminal aliens who are already here.
3. C. Move the Systematic Alien Verification for Entitlements (SAVE) Program from pilot program to passed and enforced law with very severe penalties for companies that employ criminal aliens. Here's a link: http://uscis.gov/graphics/services/SAVE.htm

"Make your voices heard. CALL YOUR SENATORS NOW!

Oh, how I wish it were possible.

What I mean, is that IF, my call to "my" Senators, had a "snowballs chance in hell," of being considered (much less even listened to, without having one of the staff, hang up on me--as has happened in the past) I would gladly do so.

As an aside, my (Vermont) Senators are: Pat (he who leaked classified information and has a voting record at least as liberal than Ted Kennedy) and, Jumpin Jim Jeffords, who now that he has decided not to seek reelection, will be even more intransigent and anti-Bush/Repub/Conservative, etc., than he has been for the past 20 years--IF That's POSSIBLE.

AN ASIDE AND PROGNOSTICATION: (Apropriated Press, November 7, 2006) "Bernie Sanders wins election; To replace Senator James Jeffords, wining 74% of the vote."

Y'all (hey, just a Frenchman and Yankee trying to learn to talk "Southern") keep me and the other 8 other Conservatives here in Vermont, in your prayers.

SEE TAGLINE: 35 Days and a "wakeup." Lord, give me strength!

It's plainly obvious they didn't have the votes two years ago...I'm not sure they have them now. It isn't the entire Republican side of the Senate...it's the McCains of the Senate. We can thank Bush for building the majority and now it's time to attack the minority of Republicans who neither understand why they are in the majority or deserve our financial support.

I agree that 2 years ago they didn't have the votes, so they shouldn't have made the threat then. But when you have the votes and keep making idle threats, the other side just ignores you, or worse, use it against you and to their benefir "we stopped them from destroying the senate!". Truth is, neither Lott nor Frist have the testicular fortitude for leadership. They're gutless wonders.

Okay, I understand what you meant by threatening two years ago. I can't, just yet, put Frist in the same category as Lott though. Trent was content to be a Senator for the rest of his life and spray his hair for Sunday talk show appearances. Frist, on the other hand, played his cards just right last session. The Dems had all of the spine you talk about then lost seats as a result and put the Republicans in a better position.

What they do with their position is critical to me too but I'm trying to resist keeping daily score. I say turn up the heat on them and judge by the final results.

Make sure that the ineffective leadership is targeted as well. If Frist and McConnell can't get it done, fire them and get someone who can produce results. I am sick of the "collegiality of the senate" mentality when the Dems are throwing punches.

"Ain't gonna happen Laura. They've been ignoring us for years. Do the "nuclear option" which they've been threatening for 2 full years."

Chuckie Schumer reminds me of "Chuckie" of the movies - a demonic child.

The RINOs remind me of those failed parents in the "Supernanny" show ... apathetically saying "Stop throwing firecrackers at your younger sister, Chuckie" and stuff like that.

No! Stop it! Get disciplined, get serious and stop it NOW!!

Enough with the games. It's as if the RINOs think they can just pretend to fake an effort and that is enough.

Nope. Trying is lying. Get it DONE. Get a cloture vote. If it fails, get another . and another... and one every hours night and day until everyone is sick of them.

Then have a procedural vote to change the rules so that filibuster of nomination can pass with only 50 votes, if there were 2 previous cloture votes. In other words, you need 3 readings of the nomination.

Try to pass it.

If you fail there, go to a 'ruling from the chair' that filibusters on nominations are against the majority rule as implied by the advice and consent clause of the Constitution... see also the Ballin case. Have a vote on the ruling of the chair.

Then have at. VOTE ON THE JUDGES UP OR DOWN.

ALL OF THE ABOVE SHOULD HAVE HAPPENED BY NOW. IT SHOULD HAVE HAPPENED IN THE LAST SESSION IN CONGRESS. NOW IS THE TIME TO DO IT.

"No judges at any level will get through"??? Are you the least bit aware that this president had had the most judges approved of any president in at least the last 30 years? Or that Frist and his fellow republicans filibustered several Clinton nominations? The republicans seem to have forgoten both facts.
