There's a right way and a wrong way to protest Jane Fonda for her anti-Amer ican behavior of the past.
Unfortunately, Vietnam vet Michael Smith picked the wrong way this week.
Fonda has much for which to answer. While her famously infamous behavior in North Vietnam may not have reached the legal threshold for treason, surely she was there in spirit.

"Fonda has much for which to answer. While her famously infamous behavior in North Vietnam may not have reached the legal threshold for treason,"I believe that it did reach the legal threshold for treason, but I'm not a lawyer. This applies even more so to john f'ing kerry, as he was a military officer at the time. I think any reasonable person should be able to see that.

How can you be negative about Michael Smith's Honorable Discharge (of tobacco juice)
To: smoothsailing
I was a stupid kid in the 60's and early 70's too and did much which now makes me blush. I detest whole mindset I had then. However, I don't think spitting on someone is the way to go, either. How is this superior to the Left hefting pies and salad dressing? They have their strongly held opinions, too. JF has been made a fool by history and has lived long enough to see her cherished beliefs crumble like feta cheese. I completely understand the abhorrence of this woman's treachery against her native country and what that means to those who risked life and limb to secure that right. However, I don't think physical attack against someone for their political stance, particularly in a day wherein AIDS and other diseases are borne by bodily fluids, is morally justified.

The difference is Mr. Smith EARNED the right to spit on Ms. Fonda, while he was protecting the rights of those salad dressing and pie throwing a*sholes' antecedents to be as stupid as their successors.

I agree. I'm not going to judge Mr. Smith for his actions, because I wasn't a VN Vet who endured what he endured.
However, I am a Vet, and in my opinion if bad things happen to Hanoi Jane, then I'm not shedding any tears for her traitorous @$$

While her famously infamous behavior in North Vietnam may not have reached the legal threshold for treason, surely she was there in spirit. I agree with you that it did. Henry and Erika Holzer's scholarly book, "Aid and Comfort", makes a compelling case that Fonda committed treason. The forward by MOH winner Col. George "Bud" Day is worth the price of the book alone.

I agree with you.
What the hell is this "in spirit"? EXCUSE ME! she was there and ACTIVELY gave aid and comfort to the enemy in a deliberate active way. Hello? That's treason! Not "treason in spirit".

AND, of all the threads that have been being posted here on her book, has ANYONE been picking up on the careful wording in the articles of her behavior in North Vietnam. Why no mention of Paris and the Treaty signing?

Jane Fonda should have been tried and jailed or executed as a traitor. Since she was not, I find it appropriate for citizens, especially veterans to spit on her. Spitting on evil doers is a time honored tradition dating back to biblical days.

Michael Smith did more to speak for Viet Nam veterans and conservative America than 99% of objections, criticisms, dismissals and blustery remarks made by 99% of the American leadership for the last 35 years. They should give this guy a medal.

Well, treason used to be met with a firing squad. Jane got off light, but she undoubtedly understood the unequivocal message. Even a lawyer could twist the meaning of Mr. Smith's...uh...outburst.

I think that is the reason Hanoi Jane said she would not press charges.
Scrutiny of her past by millions of people who are unaware would destroy her makeover tour.
She is a Traitor with savvy advisors.

Teaching about Hiroshima gives an opportunity to teach that America was evil to drop the bomb. Teaching about VietNam is a good excuse to tell how horrible we were to the Viet Cong.

What I posted was that Vietnam, along with a lot of other history, has been removed from a number of history classes.
You had some odd response about me slanting something.
I'm leaving it at that. I'm not going off into some debate about who was right or wrong in war for whatever reason.

I think that is the reason Hanoi Jane said she would not press charges. When I heard that she wasn't pressing charges, I thought it was, if not an admission, then an acknowledgment of her guilt.
When someone that wealthy, with enough money to buy lawyers and courts, walks away, it's tantamount to a "no contest" plea.
I still hate the commie beotch, but think she might be coming to grips with her guilt (that's a good thing).
I hope know that she knows what she's done, she takes it to her grave with her.

MY MISTAKE! I think I was too cryptic!!
The slanting is done in the history classes! They include the wars in the history classes; however, they slant the truth so dramatically that it's hardly recognizable.
I'm sorry that I was not clear. I hope you'll accept my apology.
