Prayers for Little Elian bump! I'll never forget, it was wrong. Still I think the little guy is smart enough to see what an evil man Castro is despite the "happy juice." I am confident that he is just laying his time until Castro kicks the bucket and God judges him.
Do you think a dismissal would be an easy thing to take for someone who has put in years and has a family and their retirement to consider? Someone who has their federal retirement to consider?
You people who have nothing to risk, sure talk a good line, but if you had the same things to risk as some of those agents did, you might not be so quick to quit or let yourself get fired.

This is my hope and assessment as well. I hope it's soon.
It should be noted that Elian stayed with Juan Miguel's family, not his mothers'. This wasn't two branches of the family feuding, this was a free family battling a slave member of the family. I don't blame JMG. We have no idea what threats Fidel made and how many people Fidel threatened to kill.
If you would give up all of your family's security, health insurance, retirement, senority etc, to avoid one raid then my dear you aren't half as smart as you seem to want us all to believe.
I don't care what you believe about me. I just know what I believe in and what I can stand for, and what's over the line.
It simply isn't responsible to give up a lifetime career for one raid.
Those who think it's that easy to walk away are not really thinking it through and putting themselves in the place of those who must provide for their families in the federal law enforcement system.
Say what you will, but I doubt most of you would quit over this either. You would hate it as much as the agents who were there did, but most of you would not throw away such a good job, retirement and benefits.
It's easy to sit at your computer and judge these agents.
can you please add my name to the Cuba Ping list?
Thank you!~
I made no comment about job dismissal being easy or difficult. It was the following point that I was debating:
Just as the military is under the commander in chief and is required to follow orders, so were those agents on the scene that day.
I'm just saying the two are not analagous.

You lost me there. You were speaking of the risk of losing family income and retirement for disobeying a superior. Depending on where they work, I'd guess many FReepers would be risking their career if they disobeyed an order from a superior.
The officers that were there that day were told they would be there as ordered or fired.
You have no way of knowing that. I should have been more specific.
I stated in #55 and #71 an assumption that they risked being dismissed.
I don't think anyone has said otherwise.
I meant that in a nice way. I was finding fault with myself by not making that point clearly.
