Rush Limbaugh: 2005 Cure-A-Thon Raises over $1 Million, Two Listeners Offer to Match Rush's 300K

I know a number of you would like to have an update on our Cure-A-Thon last Friday. We set a record. You people came through. I cannot thank you enough. We set an all-time record. Just as of the close of business on Sunday, the whole weekend, we raised a grand total of over a million dollars, a million sixty-two thousand dollars in three hours on Friday. If you add up the total time in those three hours that we were talking about our Cure-A-Thon, we maybe totaled an hour of the three. You folks are amazing out there, simply amazing.

Some of you are also wondering, did anybody take me up on my offer? By the way, that million dollars does not include my contribution. That's just you people out there, doesn't include mine. (coughing) Excuse me, I don't know, I've got a cold or something today, do I sound stuffed up today a little bit? I sound stuffed up to me but you can't use the way I sound to myself as a gauge because I'm deaf, but anyway, we have two people, two different people that have stepped up and have matched my contribution in exchange for my offer of sending an airplane out to get them, bring 'em back here, spend the day here at EIB, and go to dinner. One outfit is from Rancho Santa Fe, California, a man and wife and then there are two women, and I don't know, they're in London right now. They were listening on the Internet. They're Americans, and they have expressed interest in this, too. They're both being vetted right now.

So we may have had two people that matched this. If that holds up, then we may end up with another 900 grand to throw into the kitty, which would put us right at two million dollars for a single day. I will keep you posted on this, ladies and gentlemen, as the news is warranted and as the news is made.

No matter what Rush's failings, you have to admit that he's a force of nature, so to speak, and that he works for those who are sick without asking the State to intervene. I give him a B-.

It's obvious that you do not listen to his show very often.

Well, I don't hear every show. But, I catch about two hours a week.

The last time I heard him mention illegal immigration, he talked for five minutes and artfully avoided any mention of Bush.

Bush is the President of the United States. He is sworn to uphold the constitution and protect our country form invasion. Since he won't do it, American Patriots must do it at their own peril and expense.

But, what does Bush do? He snuggles up to the President of Mexico and calls the Minute Men a bunch of vigilantes.

This is disgusting.

If Clinton could be impeached for his statements regarding getting Lewinskis in the oval office, then it seems Bush has certainly crossed the line of an impeachable offense for his dereliction of duty on our southern border.

Rush is a so-called Conservative. Bill O'Reilly is not. But even O'Reilly recognizes the crisis and is bringing attention to it on his show.

BTW, RushCrush; Just your moniker alone depicts where you stand in regards to Rush Limbaugh. Be careful about your loyalty to men. It is far better to be loyal to principle. That difference is what we fought the America Revolution over.

You give him a B-?

So, what would you give yourself, having probably never raised millions of dollars to cure diseases? Just curious.

My screenname is to be taken with a sense of humor.

I'm very concerned that you have had yours surgically removed.

The same could be said for you- one man cannot address all things to everyone's liking.

The Rush bashers are so obvious in their hatred, it doesn't take much to draw them to these threads. If you don't like the man, you're not going to like his message. That's obvious. So why waste your time?

It's not whether or not I like Rush. It's what he stands for that I do or don't like.

By and large, I agree with him quite a bit. In fact, I'm on board with about 90% of what he says. But there is one glaring exception; That is the way he handles Bush's negligence on the border with kid gloves.

What do you think he would be saying if John Kerry was allowing this happen? He'd be raving! But, because it's Bush, he uses a double standard. I've lost a lot of respect for him, Bush and the Republican Party as a result.

We are in post 911 America. We'd better wake up or we'll go the way of the Roman Empire. I regret to say we're a good distance down that road already.

Another thing. Don't tie a label on me like "Rush basher". I was listening to him when you were still in diapers.

Let's get one thing straight. We're talking about men here. I can disagree with someone without "hating him". That includes Ronald Regan. As mush as I loved him, I didn't hesitate to state my disagreement with the way he handled the Beirut, Lebanon bombing of the U.S. Marine barracks.

If you don't criticize your friend when he's heading off on a destructive course, what kind of friend are you anyway?

So, you have a sense of humor and I don't?

When was the last time you got a reply like "ROFLOLPMP" to one of your posts?

I won't label you a Rush basher if you won't label me by my screen name.

Hey- are you watching me or something, you seem to think you know how old I am! What's your best guess? and how do you know?

Do you always come to FR looking for a fight? Are we in a contest now to see who has gotten the most laughs?

I'm here to learn and discuss in a positive way, not to consistenly thrash others for their personal opinions.

Also- FYI you can use the search function to see how many of my posts have gotten the ROFLOLPMP response. I don't have time to do it for you. Gotta get my diaper changed, ya know.

Rush is the best their is. Some people think that if he isn't constantly bashing Pres. Bush he's a party hack. If I wanted constant bashing of the Pres. I'd listen to Savage. I don't agree with Pres. Bush 100% of the time but sometimes there are other ways to get things done than acting like an idiot.

I don't understand that people waste their time criticizing Rush instead of going to the real source of the problem.

Probably because it's easier to complain about Rush than to actually do anything.

...you seem to think you know how old I am!

Elementary Watson - I presume that is you riding the camel in the picture on your home page. (The diaper reference was not meant to be mathematically accurate.)

Anyway Ms. Crush, I didn't mean to get unfriendly. I apologize for my rude behavior and will try to be more of a gentleman in the future.

Best regards,
Barnacle

How true. It is easier to complain about Rush than travel all the way to Arizona to help the Minute Men do the job our government should be doing.

But, I hope they are heartened to know that many of us don't believe the lie that they are vigilantes. We know they're Patriots who are protecting our border at their own expense and peril.
