Sharpton tells O’Reilly no child should be handcuffed (except if you bring water to Terri Schiavo?)
opinion | 4-26-2005 | BrianBaldwin

Posted on 04/26/2005 9:36:31 PM PDT by Brian_Baldwin

Today I’m watching with disbelief the so-called “Civil Rights Activist” and “Reverend” Al Sharpton on the FOX Cable O’Reilly Factor, and Sharpton remarks to Bill O’Reilly in comments about the recent news items regarding the Florida police who handcuffed an unruly five-year-old girl after she acted up in her kindergarten class, that no child should ever be put in handcuffs by the (Florida) police in such circumstances, even if unruly.

Of course, immediately my first though was the child, in fact children, who were handcuffed and led off arrested by the Florida police for trying to bring Terri Shaivo a glass of water.

And, where was Al Sharpton then? Where was the ACLU, then?

I am already hearing reports of an ACLU lawyer who is bring suit regarding the handcuffing of this out of control brat. The same ACLU that did everything they could to see that children who try to bring Terri Shaivo a glass of water are handcuffed, and that Terri dies.

It is absolutely sickening. I spit on the ACLU, it’s exactly as Michael Savage says – the ACLU is the Enemy Within and is one of the most dangerous enemies of our nation and our freedoms. In the same O’Reilly Factor we hear the ACLU defends NAMBLA whose member is a sexual predator of children and a child-murderer.

My God. What kind of world do we live in? It was only one month ago today, on March 24th – 26th, that children were being handcuffed and arrested by the Florida police, and already most have forgotten but for the same liberals who did this by means of their ACLU courts, the same liberals are screaming that this brat in Florida was handcuffed, and now they got their ACLU lawyers working the case and the ilk of Al Sharpton who will tell us that no child should be handcuffed. I guess the Al Sharpton rule of law is, no child should be handcuffed if the punk is black and disrupting the classroom and endangering other children and the teacher … but for those children who actually are standing up for REAL civil rights, it’s a good, ACLU, thing to handcuff them. Especially if they are white kids. The banal of an Al Sharpton and the morass of the ACLU.

Sharpton, like his counter-part Jesse Jackson, is nothing more than a race-baiting charlatan hiding behind self-attached titles like "reverend" and "civil rights activist."

Both Sharpton, a gross racist hypocrite, and the ACLU are some of lowest life forms in our society. The liberal far-left is a disease and plague upon this country.

I'm teed off too. What was the school supposed to do with that temper tantrum brat anyway? Put her in "time out?" Spank her? (HEAVEN FORBID!!) Reason with her? Threaten her? Or call the cops.

Man, if ever a case could be made for ADD, she is it! And the left is going to turn this into a "racial" crisis.

If I was her mom, I'd hang my head in shame and humiliation.

Without any question the police were afraid of the 5-year-old. It's the logical extension of the cowardice police exhibited at the Littleton, Colorado school shooting, where they cowered behind their cars until all the shooting was over and the last child had been killed.

A weird analogy. The kids at the Littleton school (Columbine) weren't exactly tempered 5-year olds. If you were outmatched by a couple of punks with fully automatic weapons, I'm sure you'd be cowering behind an object too.

This case pisses me off. If a child is out of control, what choice do you have? Kids can do some damage, man! That's why they sometimes have to restrain them in hospitals and such.

I guess the ACLU would like us to just sit and smile while the kid punches us in the face and breaks everything in the room...

Why waste our time on Sharpton? He is a demagogue; a snake; and beyond contempt.

The fact the O'Reilly sees fit to have the bum on his show simply reflects upon the host's ego-driven, incredibly poor taste and failure to sense the national mood.

Pax on both O'Reilly and Sharpton -- both self-serving megalomaniacs.

So, there. I feel much better now. Thanx. *S*

In the Schiavo case and in this case of the little black 5-year old girl, the parents had the cops handcuff the kids. Absolutely stupid to blame you, me, O'Reilly, society, or even the police. The bigger question is, whatever happend to parental responsibility in this country?

This was clearly not the case.

That video was a tell all about her mother and upbringing. Imagen, a five year old ALREADY kicking biting smacking an adult and to hell with authority! Yeah lets just leave kids like this alone in class to disrupt everyone, attack students, and get away with it. This is the reason I left Kalifornia to return to the Gulf Coast... kids show respect, or parents pay the consequences of explaining to the Youth Court why the kids are out of control. Parents are held responsible and believe me kids here don't want mom or dad to miss work for their bad behavior! Time is money, and a good spanking never hurt anyone.... I still can't get over the video of that kid. Handcuffs protected the principal and police, against that animal. She shouldn't be allowed to return to school until she learns proper behavior. Of course this will become a racial issue, but any child exhibiting that behavior should be barred from attending school. Too dangerous for others. Doesn't get her way, what next, a knifing or worse?

No, I'm implying that those they gunned down had no way of defending themselves, it doesn't matter of the shooters were using .22 rifles or fully automatic weapons.

This kid is obviously a B-R-A-T. I haven't seen on thing about her parents. They are either crack heads and she doesn't know who her daddy is, or over-achievers like the columbine kids' parents. Either way, the kids are left to grow up like wild animals.

Teachers can't use discipline in school now to control these little demons. What were the cops supposed to do, shoot her? Stun gun maybe? Would the ACLU like that more than handcuffs?

You couldn't pay me enough to babysit these spoiled little buttheads 8 hours a day in name of [cough] education. This little by-product of idiots is 5 now. I'd give her 8 years to be in juvenile detention. She'll probably have at least 3 more siblings by then by three different anonymous crack head "baby daddy".

I have to agree with that. But the fault for their having the power they do is still on Joe Sixpack, for not getting out of his recliner and casting informed votes each and every election.

We will always have the government we deserve because of this phenomenon.

They should be handcuffed when doing something symbolic. If they were really bringing Terri a glass of water, then no they shouldn't have been cuffed. This was designed as a MSM moment by the protesters there.

If it was so important for those who gathered to insist that nutrition and hydradtion be given to Terri, then they should have at least lived up to the convictions they had. They didn't. Each attempt and arrest was symbolic.

I recall someone saying that the child was on a rampage for around 28 minutes, and it was all on tape.

If there is such a tape, I'd like to see it in its' entirety.

They didn't because, jake jakey, the Good and Faithful police of Pinellas Florida followed the Judicial Order to Murder to the forceful and handcuffing letter. The handuffing was NOT AT ALL symbolic. It was real unto the death.

No attempt was actual. They were all symbolic. Anyone of those protesters who did not seriously attempt to get the necessary nutrition and hydration to Terri is just as guilty as anyone associated with the court decision or the actual implementation. What were the cops gonna do, shoot a kid? No way.

I just watched this this AM. This link takes you to the arrest of the girl and her actions PRIOR to being restrained by police.

http://www.tampabays10.com/news/news.aspx?storyid=13483

Without seeing the video I determined that the police/principal were in the wrong. After viewing it, I agree with their actions.

As someone stated on another thread, if this helps to teach the child that there are consequences or penalties for her actions, maybe it's a good thing. She is already clearly out of control. The school called her mother at 2:00 and "mom" couldn't get to the school until 3:15. That's an hour and fifteen minutes. In the video you can hear an officer tell the child something to the effect of the mother has been told she will be handcuffed (paraphrased).

In this case, I think the assistant principal did a good job of keeping the child from hurting herself and others.
