Wrong man at the wrong time (Tehran Times on Bolton)
The Tehran Times ^ | April 27, 2005 | By M. A. Saki

John R. Bolton's nomination to be U.S. ambassador to the United Nations sent shivers through the 191-member organization and the international community. All were stunned at the choice of a man whose unilateralist and unrealistic attitudes toward international issues have made the world a less safe place.

His nomination appeared more appalling since the Bush administration had previously announced it planned to repair its image, which had suffered greatly due to the scandal-hit invasion of Iraq launched under the guidance of hawks like Bolton and other officials who Nelson Mandela once called the dinosaurs surrounding Bush.

If Tehran is opposed to Bolton, he's the perfect man for the job.

Sen. Voinovich's next official statement: "I had planned on voting for Bolton, but a recent article in the Tehran Times brought out some new data. I'm no longer comfortable with this nomination."

Are there any more doubts as to Bolton's qualifications?

Bolton is definitely that man for the job. The Tehran wipe has just given him a hugh endorsement in my opinion.

Okay, so this is from one of the least tolerant, hateful nations in the world. Ahhhh, their wisdom ... nope.

Bingo. It's the best recommendation for the man I've heard to date.

We all know the U.N. is irrelevant, but perception is everything in the "international community" that the liberals like John F'n love so much.

If we're going to have to participate in the sham, I'd at least love to send someone who pisses terrorists (and liberals, as if there's a difference) off -- and Bolton's perfect.

Yes. The pettifoggers in the Senate who block Bolton's appointment are giving considerable aid and comfort to our nation's sworn enemies.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if the source for the article was either DNC talking points, the NYT front page, or both.

What a diverse group opposes Mr. Bolton: the North Koreans, the Iranians, and the Democrats, and apparently shamefully joined by Mr. Powell and Mr. Armitage (from Mr. Clemons' website "thewashingtonnote"):

With people of Colin Powell's and Richard Armitage's ilk essentially on our side, the battle is worth fighting. I tend to want to match with smiles and rationality the sneers and snarls from Cheney and new Bolton buddies David Frum and Gary Bauer. But it is nonetheless feeling more and more like an epic battle, which as Frum wrote yesterday is turning out to be a battle about "the presidency itself."

I certainly hope that Mr. Bolton is approved by the Senate, and I can only imagine the collective conniption fit of such a group when and if the President prevails.

"Wrong man at the wrong time" I swear I heard these exact words a few days ago from a member of congress. My money says it was either DODD or Kennedy.

Well, save this and compare to the Democratic National Committee talking points distributed over the coming weekend. I'll track the MSM on this one and let you know.

Iranian wackos, Democratic wackos! They're all the same.
