ADDITIONAL HISTORY OF THE PLATE

Ohio Governor Bob Taft Approves Choose Life Pate, Lawsuit Expected
by Steven Ertelt LifeNews.com Editor
February 16, 2005
Columbus, OH (LifeNews.com) --

Ohio Governor Bob Taft signed legislation Tuesday authorizing motorists to purchase Choose Life license plates. Proceeds from sales of the plates will benefit pregnancy centers around the state that provide abortion alternatives -- but only if the plates survive an expected lawsuit.

Sen. Jim Jordan, a Republican from Urbana, sponsored the license plate bill, which asks drivers to spend $30 extra for the specialty plates, with $20 going to the pregnancy centers.

The measure specifically prohibits abortion businesses or any agency that refers from abortions from receiving donations from the plate sales.

The Ohio bill becomes law in 90 days and the pro-abortion American Civil Liberties Union says it will likely file a lawsuit against the plates.

Last month the U.S. Supreme Court chose not to hear a lawsuit ...< snip >

What's the big deal? The leftists who despise life can ask the OH Legislature to pass a "Choose Abortion" license plate. Let the market decide.

ACLU is a legalized socialist mafia outfit that should be stripped of taxpayer funds.

The ACLU only defends the rights of thugs, criminals, and left-wing groups. Conservatives can go to hell.

The pulled the same crap here in Tennessee and sued claiming that the plates were unconstitutional because the pro-abortion crowd were denied their constitutional right because they were not granted a "Choose Infanticide" (or whatever) plate as well.

A judge with one eye and a grain of sense would have thrown out the suit ruling they had no legal grounds to sue on because no one has sought and been denied a "Choose Murder" plate. In other words, the judge ruled that anytime a pro-life sentiment was expressed on any state issued paper, the "Pro-Abortion" sentiment MUST be expressed.

Someone ought to remind the ACLU that the "L" in their name stands for LIBERTIES, as in FREEDOM.

Not really. They don't actually WANT their own plates, they just want to deny the rights of pro-life people.

I know, it's not short or creative enough for a license plate, but I like the thought :)

A lawsuit was filed Wednesday challenging Ohio's offer of license plates with the anti-abortion message "Choose Life."

It sounds like a "Pro-Choice" license plate to me.

Is the ACLU against choice?

The Left needs to decide if it is actually "Pro-Choice" or simply "Pro-Abortion".

If it is the latter, the problem can be easily solved by giving them a "Choose Abortion" license plate.

The ACLU uses the word "liberties" in their name to deceive millions of people in this country and countless others world wide. It is in the play book of communist agents working in our country's early history to play such name games to put stupid people off guard. Founded in the 1920s by Roger Baldwin, several crucial leaders of the ACLU were members of the Communist Party. Earl Browder, then General Secretary of the Communist Party, said the ACLU functioned as "a transmission belt" for the party.

If they called their goon squad the Mother's Milk of Communism, they would have done as much good. The MMC has a nice ring to it (sarcasm). People would never condemn mother's milk--even if it was associated with communism.

In short, when will the stupid people of this country take this Union of Communists goons to task like we took the tobacco industry.

On what will they base the lawsuit?

Latest I heard was, "viewpoint discrimination."

The idea, as I understand it, is that if the state offers a license plate promulgating a particular viewpoint, it somehow Constitutionally owes opposing "viewpoints" a chance to be equally displayed. Sort of a mobile "equal time provision." I think it's a really lame argument but then we've had a lot of lame decisions from the courts these days.

If the Far Left really cared about "equal time provision", then the schools, especially the colleges, would be more balanced.

Respect Choice is not an opposing viewpoint to Choose LIfe, Choose Death is. So, they should either change it or let there be another plate "Respect Life".

The RICO thing, did you get that idea from Michael Savage? I certainly makes the point that it is run like a racket, doesn't it?

It should be called the AACLU because they stand for everything anti-American.

No, don't listen to Savage. I've been compiling a collection of news articles relating to ACLU & religion for some years now. It didn't take long to realize that they are basically extortionists.

To be sure. Even the near Left has no interest in equal time, in reality.
