NEW YORK - Ronald Reagans handwritten personal diaries covering his eight years as president from 1981 will be published next year after an agreement with his presidential library. Publisher HarperCollins called Reagans private journal the most detailed presidential diaries in Americas history, and said it had been seen only by a few people.
When Ronnie became president, he wanted to write it all down so we could remember these special times, Nancy Reagan said in the publishing house statement released Tuesday.
Reagan, the 40th president of the United States, died last year at the age of 93. He had lived in seclusion under his wifes care for much of the previous decade while struggling with Alzheimers.
The former actor turned politician was mourned as one of the most significant U.S. presidents of the 20th century, though he was also seen by some as one of the most divisive. His tenure cleared the way for the end of the Cold War and historians will be particularly interested in his accounts of meetings with former Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev.

Ronald Reagan, What a Great Man, I would have been much less without him.
TT
Just "an amiable dunce" who was "sleepwalking through history."The libs don't like to be reminded that they called him that - and that Ronald Reagan was one of the most, if not the most, prolific writers to be elected president.
It was one thing to criticize Reagan when the outcome of his policies was not yet clear - and quite another to take responsibility for those criticisms, now that it is obvious that Reagan took on a Herculean task - and completely accomplished it.
Sounds like an EXCELLENT Christmas/birthday/anytime kind of gift!
We've gotta make sure that sucker DEBUTS at #1 on every book list we can think of!
As seen in his "My American Life," Reagan, even without a ghost writer, was a clear and detailed chronicler. I'm sure he kept an accurate and comprehensive record.
