I happen to be a (gasp!) Denny's waitress. Oh, sorry--server. First, with regard to the kind of service you can expect at 2am, or any other time of day, you have to keep in mind that there are corporate Denny's and there are franchise Denny's. In theory, we're all supposed to be held to the same standard. In practice, the corporate stores (such as the one I work at) are held to a higher standard. It is just easier for corporate mgmt to keep tabs on corporate stores.
A lot of you seem shocked that people are out dining at 2am...why? The overwhelming majority of Denny's restaurants are 24 hour stores. Last call in a lot of states is 2am. Where do drunken crowds go to satisfy their munchie cravings or sober up a bit? The nearest 24 hour restaurant. When are you most likely to have the least amount of staff working? Between 2am and 6am. Some of us really do try our best, but there are limits to what we can accomplish. If a dozen drunks--or sober folks, whatever--all come in and order a breakfast at 2am, they are going to have to wait a little longer than usual. It has nothing to do with service. It has to do with the size of the grills. A good server will have no problem explaining this to a customer, and I have never had a customer fail to understand it. Good service sometimes, regrettably, means having to explain that one can expect slow service.
With regard to this statement:
"We don't serve Bin Laden's here ... You're not welcome here anymore."
If the manager actually said this, he has absolutely no business working in the service industry. Period.
And, also fwiw, I live and work in Michiganistan!
TRAITOR!!!
jk, PL
Regarding my Canadian friends, co-workers, and employer, yes, their heads do bobble like on South Park.
lol, eh!
Who listen to Alanis and pat Muslims from Hamilton on the back?
You're an idiot.
Can't recall ever seeing an Arab in there.
And your comments on being questioned when crossing the border is not relevent.
And I doubt they actually sat their quietly for an hour. There is a lot to this story we haven't heard yet.
7 mid eastern men at 2 am in the morning in Florida would be a situation that would get my attention.
I guess then 7 mid eastern men at 2 am in Nevada wouldn't?
Aren't egyptians arab? But I get your point. After dealing closely with trop for 1600 yrs. I can see how they may not want them around and they are probably not cowed by threats of a lawsuit.
Egypt has different kinds of folks in different places for a variety of reasons some of which are entirely too complex to explain, or maybe even understand.
