Zogby Poll: Bush would still beat Kerry today
Zogby ^ | John Zogby

Posted on 04/29/2005 3:30:05 PM PDT by Nascardude

Released: April 26, 2005 Red/Blue Divide Still Evident: Red States Give Bush 50% Job Approval, 42% in Blues; War on Terror Bush’s Strength—Low Marks on Other Facets of Job; Handling of Social Security Nets Lowest Score; Bush Would Still Beat Kerry Today (46% to 41%), New Zogby Poll Reveals

President George W. Bush, despite low marks on most facets of his job, would still beat Democrat John Kerry (46% to 41%)—and would still win handily in the Red States that handed him his re-election victory last fall (50% to 36%). That’s the finding of a new Zogby International survey of 1011 likely voters conducted from April 15 through 19, 2005, with a margin of error of +/-3.1 percentage points. The Zogby America poll also found that President Bush’s initiative to reform social security is unpopular with nearly two-in-three (64%) voters.

Zogby International includes the results of the survey in tabular format, including an analysis of the breakdown by “Red States” and “Blue States,” the designation given the Republican-leaning states that supported the President and the Democrat-leaning states that supported Senator Kerry, respectively, in the last election.

I wonder if any of the DU retards have seen this one. Not even their beloved polling hero, John Zogby can back them up on this one.

By the way, why in god's name would Zogby want to waste his time, money, and resources polling an election that happened 6 months ago? That sounds like a huge waste of time if you ask me. If you're gonna run a polling company, poll things people actually give a crap about. Why not poll who would win if the Thomas Jefferson/John Adams election were held today?

Wow, between all the recounts that took place in Ohio and this, Bush has won this election about 48,000 times by now.

It does seem like a waste of time and money. Why doesn't he go back to 2000 while he's at it?!

I usually don't care what the polls say, though I DO wish they would take a poll to see how many of us just basically want to see Kerry "beat" with a big old Hickory switch, LOL!

If this doofus comes up for air again in 2008, I'm not sure I could take it!

I agree.

But think what you would be seeing / hearing if the poll showed an opposite result.

No it won't. The RATs only believe polls that confirm what they believe. Which is a good thing.

"Handling of Social Security Nets Lowest Score"

Anybody that tries to tell the truth about SS and reform it is going to be bloodied. Dems are PO'd that he'd even try in the first place. Bush has brought this to the forefront at his own peril (when he didn't have to) but felt future generations would be cheated if he didn't. Only history can tell us how it will end up but I would never bet against Bush.

I agree. There are more important contests to which Zogby should devote his time:

Ginger.....or Mary Ann?

Zogby's been way wrong since the 2002 elections, but he really blew it in 2004.

In May, 2004 - before the conventions - his polls predicted that Kerry would win in November. Then at 5:00pm on Nov. 2, 2004 (election day) Zogby made the incredible prediction that Kerry would win with 311 electoral votes. He claimed to have based that prediction on 958 phone calls to probable voters across the U.S.

You see, Zogby busted his polling reputation wide open predicting a Kerry victory in 2004 and became the joke of the industry. Plus, it doesn't help that he and his brother, James Zogby has some interesting Arab connections.

The answer I think, comes from the fact that Zogby is not a non-partisan actor in all this. His brother, James Zogby is an outreach coordinator for Arab voters for the Democratic Party, and heads an Arab American advocacy group. John Zogby admits to being a Democrat, like his brother. And like his brother, he is also an advocate for the Arab side of the Middle East conflict.

Richard Zogby came out of the 2004 elections as giving worthless polls based on his deep desire to see Bush defeated, and his reputation 'got shot'. He's still trying to gloss it over, even 6 months later.

Dollars to donuts this was funded by an "operative" group to use as tool to leverage against Bush for various issues

I'd also bet if you dig deep into the polls methodology you might find some surprises Polls aren't cheap to conduct, someone is looking for political points to make.

...but it's Friday, so all the weekend polling has rolled off. Kerry always does better in the weekend polling. Wait until Monday, Bush will be behind again.

If you could vote again in the most recent presidential election this past November, would you vote again for George W. Bush, would you vote again for John Kerry, would you vote again for a third party candidate, would you change your vote to George W. Bush, would you change your vote to John Kerry, would you change your vote to a third party candidate, or would you not vote?

Zogby recently did an internet poll consisting of 400 questions. There were a number of avenues covered. He gets a lot of milage out of a poll, probably having been commissioned by several clients who pool their resources. This report on the election may have come from that poll and is just one facet of the results. I would not be surprised if both political parties participated, that would make sense to me. The business of politics is constant and apparently there can never be too much information about where your potential votes might come from.

This is an excellent video! I had a running argument this week with some liberal coworkers over the clip Randi Rhodes aired the other day, advocating the shooting of President Bush over his Social Security proposals. These people thought the whole thing was just "harmless fun".

I'll send them the link to this video first thing Monday morning - it will drive them nuts!
