Many people may recall my first posting this idea back in February 2003. The nuclear option -- though I would not use that name -- was based on an appreciation for the Republican Party's commendable, though forgotten, heritage of civil rights achievement. Setting the record straight is the purpose of the Lincoln-Reagan Freedom Foundation. and of Back to Basics for the Republican Party, a history of the GOP from the Republican point of view.

And here's the mandatory faux-clueless post:

What's a GOP?

This is a great reminder of how valuable Free Republic is. People leave in a huff over this and that sometimes, but Freepers get things done!

Nice work.

I strongly recommend "Back To Basics" for anyone interested in the true history of the Republican Party. Mike Zak does a tremendous and credible job in bringing out the civil rights successes of the party from the Emancipation Proclamation through the Civil Rights Act. The greatest political crime of the past 200 years has been the Democrat theft of this history!

If you want on (or off) of my black conservative ping list, please let me know via FREEPmail. (And no, you don't have to be black to be on the list!)

Extra warning: this is a high-volume ping list.

Vice President Nixon tried to get the 1957 Civil Rights Act passed by bringing it directly to the Senate floor. Unfortunately, it was a Democratic Congress and the Republicans were outvoted.

It's getting harder and harder for the Dims to live in ignorance of their own history...

Thanks for the post. I thought the moniker "nuclear option" referred to the childish tantrums the democrats were sure to throw once the Republicans restored order.
