A left-leaning group called the Interfaith Alliance is protesting the influence of Christianity in U.S. history.
A liberal action group has challenged the views of a well-known conservative who points in detail to the influence Christianity has had on U.S. history.
David Barton, founder of Wallbuilders, regularly gives tours of the U.S. Capitol to spotlight the faith-based underpinnings of key moments in American history. But the Interfaith Alliance—a group from the religious left—recently objected to a Barton excursion, accusing him of revising history.
The tour in question was for Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist, but the alliance didn't complain to Barton—they went to the media.
"They seem to be committed to a fairly active goal of secularism," Barton said. "What I do is simply walk through the Capitol and pull out religious documents that are already depicted in the Capitol and show the originals."
Representatives for the Interfaith Alliance did not respond to an interview request.
Gary Bauer, president of American Values, said if anyone is revising history, it's not Barton.
"It's the history books in most of our schools that are giving a distorted view," he explained. "Mr. Barton has done an incredible job of researching the beliefs of our founding fathers and the strong role that faith played in those events leading up to 1776."
The Interfaith Alliance, Bauer added, gets a free ride from the media in citing the influence of religion on their political activities, while Christian conservatives are attacked.
Peter Sprigg, a spokesman for the Family Research council, agreed.
"It's astonishing how far the left has gone in trying to strip religion from the public square—in this case almost literally," he said. "And yet liberal Christians—liberal 'people of faith,' as they put it . . . are just as politically active as conservatives."

I direct you to the prime example of timeliness: The Cross. It was also the most untimely way to do it, too. Waiting until 2005 would have spared Jesus' life.
The idea of a "time" to press certain things is absurd. Creationism isn't a political idea; it's just a fact. In six days God created the heavens and the earth. Withholding this fact is the equivalent of lying, and a lie that could lead to the damnation of people.

You can't force anyone to learn about the Lord. Remember, he only wants those who come looking for him on their own free will. As a Christian, you should help those who come looking.
At the same time, we should not allow our freedoms and rights in the constitution to be trampled on. So wear your cross, carry your bible anywhere you choose. Anyone trying to prevent that is in violation of constitutional law.

He can't, because evolutionalism is only a theory as well, Science hasn't been helpful in supporting that theory either.

I agree regarding the importance of issues, and I do not doubt the President's sincere commitments to his faith. I don't think that they all split apart cleanly, however. The chips will fall where they may, and it doesn't harm me if people think the two theories are compatible or not. Just as long as we're all aiming for the same general vicinity, I think we're all OK. I think we pretty much are.
Those other issues will have backlash associated with them as well. The opposition will search high and low for anything and take it out of context no matter who it is that is doing the talking.

I work with a guy (PhD in Math) that absolutly hates Christians and George Bush in particular. The reason why is because he thinks that Bush will force his children to learn that evolution, and the biological sciences it supports, is fiction.
Pushing creationism needlessly provokes those who are not now Christians. The proper method to reach these people is to witness to them. Not come in with jackboots and force them to hear your message with the power of government.
Then fight those things, because they need to be fought and stop waisting your time attempting to change the science curriculum because evolution has nothing at all to do with those issues.
I was wondering about that too. Jesus came, his comming and death was fortold. NOTHING could have prevented the events from unfolding as they did. If Christ didn't die on the cross as was fortold in the old testament, we would still be bound to the laws and penalties of the old covanent. We would not have been saved, and we would not have a new covanent. Baptism would be meaningless. There would be no such thing as a Christian.
