Michelle Malkin? She must be a city girl. The Holier than Thou group will feel so vindicated and the hijacking of FR by the Taliban right will be complete.

the Taliban right

Wow, calling some conservatives the Taliban. That's pretty sad.

the real point to be made about these jokes is not how people personally feel about them - everyone is entitled to their own opinion of course, and have different levels of what they accept as humor.

the real point is that we should have recognized that SOME people who vote with us, object to this. Like that angry 74 year old evangelical grandmother who called into Michael Savage yesterday. And we have a slim majority in this country, we can't afford to be p**sing off people over nonsense like this dumb dinner. what do we have to gain by letting the first lady do this? nothing, there is no upside, only a downside. politically, its not a positive for our side.

I've been paying only some attention to this topic...but, your comment, Peach, caught my eye.

Pretty strong stuff. What have I missed? Thanks for 'splaining.

You know, I got a bit carried away a few posts ago and grouped the Clintoon's with the Bush's, and rightfully apologized due to your chastisement.

But to read this post here, I see you as nothing but a liberal plant. A disrupter. Someone who just stirs the pot to get people off track of the REAL debate. Man do you sound so much like a liberal.

If it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck then it must be a duck.

Oh, and YOU TOO are now duly marked.

Very nice... Nothing like using the liberal tactic of referring to those with which you disagree in the most extreme manner possible. Congrats.

So if you don't like stripper jokes you're evil? If you like Shakespeare over Andrew Dice Clay you're lowbrow? Acting like an adult with a little class at anytime is not appropriate?

Hijacking by the Taliban? Looks more like a hijacking by the DUmmies. That's a typical DUmmie rant...if you're a Christian or you don't agree with me you are the taliban and an evil fundie. If you have different moral values than me, you should go bury yourself in the backyard and shut up. You'll find ignorant hypocrites on both sides. Quite a few of them here at FR.

That's a wee bit of an exaggeration there.

Your rural notion vs city is spot on..

Your moral equivalence between those who might feel
Mrs Bush was pandering to the looney Hollywood left..are not necessarily those who think they are 'holier than thou' seems to me..was (in a way) a tad 'holier than thou' itself..

I don't think that there were many dairy farmers or cattle ranchers in the audience..so who was she playing for?

Obviously the Whorlywood crowd...guests that included Jane Fonda for example?

On the other hand who gives a ratz patoot either way..

By their fruits you shall know them...and regardless of what
the Bush family does or does not do in private is not all that important as long as it's legal..

What is more important is policy..foreign and domestic..

Who cares if Mrs. Bush gets a little raunchy after a couple of martoonies..or even without them..

It's really no biggie..tempest ina teapot

imo

I rate this story about as important as the American Idol Paula Abdul scandal unfloding on Drudge right now.

I'm an FR "Taliban".

Her jokes were appropriate. Nothing wrong with it.

You're all part of a "Holier than Thou" group too. You just don't realize it.

I thought, no, I KNOW that the "Bush is so stupid he'd accidently wack off a horse" ""joke"" was way over the top (yea, I've heard the joke before). Especially from his wife who is the first lady. I don't know any ladies that would say such a thing in public. Not my wife, my mother, my sisters or any other female I know. Even in private I don't know any woman that would tell such a joke.

Frankly, I now think that any view I had about Laura Bush being a "classy" lady was wrong. Maybe it was just a one time trailer park moment. But I don't think so. I also don't think the same of her husband anymore. A man I have supported for years.

With that said I'd still take the first person and the president over the options we had in the last two elections for president.

By the way, comparing people on this forum to people that would do what is shown in the image above makes what Laura Bush did meaningless. There is a world of difference between the Taliban and people that would pefer that their leaders not have the same humor level as the guy with his tee shirt off and his toothless wife on the average episode of COPS.

Some people are so guilty of taking everything so seriously and so literally. IT WAS A JOKE! Having a sense of humor is one of the things that serarates us from the the fundamentalists like the Taliban. We can joke about things without having to be afraid of getting shot. If you think it was not funny, so what! that is your opinion. But, do not try to make those of us who did find it funny feel like we are some inferior beings that should be scraped from the sole of your self righteous shoes.
