I just got a Census update in the mail from our local Gov't. They noted I was 'randomly selected' and was very important that I respond to their request. And if I didn't respond, they would do a follow-up.
Bring it on ...
I put in a note saying I WILL NOT provide any information about myself or family until the Gov't (local and national) takes substantive steps to curb illegal immigration.
I've had it folks. If I get anymore RNC fundraising letters I'm going to do the same.
The chief architect of America's immigration or perhaps non-immigration from Europe policy is a Senator from Massachusetts. I'm sure withholding a check from RNC will really help to straighten out another mess left for Bush by several Democrat Presidents.
The last time the census people came to my house, I let them count the rotties over their sholders as they raced for the gate.
They never came back to try and fine me.

This is the only way to make elitist politicians wake up. Hit them where it hurts. Remind them of what they need to do FOR THE PEOPLE AND THE COUNTRY THAT PAYS THEIR BILLS.

Technically yes, you can be fined for not cooperating with the Census.
But there are never any ACTUAL prosecutions of private citizens to do so. I can't guarantee there never will be but there aren't currently and I haven't seen any sign there will be.
There have been a handful of cases against companies and landlords running gated communities or apartment houses that do not allow Census workers access, that's it in terms of people being prosecuted.
If you don't send the form back, however, in about a month or so you'll be getting phone calls from the Census on a regular basis. Then the next month you'll have a series of people from the Census day after day coming by to attempt to do an interview with a laptop computer.
If you elect the dems do you think that will fix the problem ? You have to look at the overall picture, the situation is not good but it could get a lot worse.
If Kerry was in charge we would probably be surrendering to Mexico.

States with rising populations (and being illegal doesn't matter) have been known to gain representatives in Congress while others lose some. Do we want Reps in Congress who have a large illegal alien population as constituents?
