VANITY: Anyone listening to Savage? He started with the First Lady
Me ^ | 4 MAY 2005 | Me

All right. Finished Medved, and on KSKY-660AM, Savage follows.

Get this: He immediately starts in with the First Lady, talked about how the "Bushes" played the Christian vote for suckers, and he gives compliments the first ladies of France and Germany over ours. Next, he whines about his being "blacklisted."

This mouthbreather is something else! Have at it. I had to share.

Havent listened to Savage for at least 6 years. He's just as inarticulate as Hannity; just has a bad disposition.

No, I don't think I'd ever heard Savage prior to about five years ago, and even then it was rarely. His show was tape delayed in my region, and I'd only hear it if was driving home very late at night. It's not now. It comes on at 5 pm.

He does do some good stuff. His prank of having callers reading out loud from his book in a coffee house was funny.

But the show seems needlessly abrasive to me and I just don't enjoy it. It's more emotion than intellect and that's something I don't associate with conservatism to much extent.

Where did you get that picture? It's priceless. (and it really doesn't need a caption!)

"Mrs. Bush was ill advised to make such remarks at her husband's expense."

Ever heard of humor?

"We got up and left as well."

And to think that they kept that puke instead of Jim Eason and Geoff Metcalf. That's when I quit listening to KSFO

Maybe the reason we both liked Harder is we're both from the same area and talking about the same people! I used to listen to him on a dinky little station in Weirton where all the people who worked in the steel mill listened. They are the same union people who endorsed Pat Buchanan (not the USW, the ISW) when he ran for President. I didn't know Harder was still on the radio. Last I heard he had bought a station in Atlanta, and had gotten back his studio in ? Springs, FL. I know the USW beat him on the deal they made that was to silence him for the election and he never recovered from it. Clinton couldn't afford to have him talking to all those blue collar people and opening their eyes. That was a long time ago. I think you're correct. What I do like about Savage is what appealed to me about Harder, but I do have problems with Savage's ego and his anger.

I think Eason was ready to retire anyway, considering that he was broadcasting from a studio in his home in Georgia at the time. Metcalf got bumped for Dr. Laura, if I recall. Limbaugh was on KNBR at the time, and was moving to KSFO after years of being pre-empted for Giants games. Dr. Laura came on at noon (bumping Metcalf), Eason was on for one hour from 3 to 4, then Savage. Eason and Savage were feuding at the time, so the show hand-offs were testy sometimes.

You said..."Yes, there are people who's panties are in a wad, but there are also just as many "no matter what they did" defenders. Get real people! Meet somewhere in the middle. Ain't the end of the world."

Your talking about being practical...a novel concept for some people.

My 1.75 cents worth

a) If Savage was as incoherent and crazy as some people on this thread say he is...he wouldnt still be on the air...and selling books. Radio station owners like to sell product and make money. He has a niche market...and he has a schtick to sell in that market. So what?

b) Ronald Reagan and Nancy Reagan are 'old school'. My late grandmother, who attended Mass and Communion practically every day of her life, and my mother...also a devout Catholic...are both 'old school'. There are lots of people out there who are still 'old school'. It doesnt mean I have to be old school...but I understand and respect those who are. Some of us are a mixture of old school and new school.

c) Lauras comedy routine...in making reference to Desperate Housewives, and stuffing dollar bills in guys g-strings at a Chippendales show...was definately new school. Not something Nancy Reagan would do in roasting her late husband. Not something my mom would be into either. Does that make it offensive...not for me...but for my mom and others like her...not offensive per se..but in poor taste perhaps..

c) If you want to sell ideas to old school folks...you need to have some old school ideas to sell. Sales 101. Alot of old school folks voted for Bush in 2004.

I saw the entire routine LIVE. Your are interpreting her joke in a way entirely different from what seems reasonable and normal to me, and to many others who heard it. There is an image there of an clueless city slicker who is not even sure of what to milk and can't tell one animal from the next or male from female. The term "bestiality" has a specific meaning and there is no way any reasonable interpretation of her joke would qualify as "bestiality". She was not saying what you interpreted from her remarks. That her husband was going around "------- --- ------". She just was not, and a bit of good old fashioned "horse sense" should tell you that.

"considering that he was broadcasting from a studio in his home in Georgia at the time."

Ashville, North Carolina actually.

Geoff was going head to head with Limbaugh from 10:00AM to Noon, and getting half of the market.

And now they have Hannity in the afternoons. I don't listen to Dr. Laura, I only rarely listen to Rush, I don't listen to Hannity. I do listen to Lee, Mel and Officer Vic in the mornings. I miss Geoff Metcalf.

[ Get this: He immediately starts in with the First Lady, talked about how the "Bushes" played the Christian vote for suckers, ]

He has a point...
Laura getting all trashy with people some of who should be in jail for treason was a bit much..
But she just read prepared material the writer of the material is the culprit..
Beautiful woman Laura, classy too, a few words won't change that.. NO matter the words..

Bush will eventially be judged on the "Dumbing down of America by illegal aliens PROMOTED by his administration and him personally.." ON PURPOSE..

Must come from him being "a Unite'er not a Divide'er".. like him entertaining the scum the other night.. that he United with.. with the Laura Bush trash talk gambit..

The Mexican border will be his legacy.. Iraq will fade into a footnote.. The Mexican insurgency across the border will be the defining issue of all 8 years.. He must be a chip off the old, "read my lips NO NEW TAXES" block.. The full impact of the Mexican insurgency is yet to be fully realized.. When it is noticed a hard rain will fall.. The Balkanation of America, on purpose, to me is a treasonous act.. but by republicans is a gobsmack.. From democrats treason is expected.. but from republicans the whole system is suspect.. The clicking you here {listen} are BushBots getting their minds blown..

I like Savage. . .Jerry Doyle. . .Tammy Bruce. . .Do I agree with all they say; their political twists and turns; no way. . .do they bring fresh; often brutal, perspectives to the political/conservative debate. . .yes.

Who can talk the longest before I wince. . .that would be Rush. . .
