Black Democrats complained today that their party demands loyalty from them without giving any back when it counts.
It was the second spat this week underscoring the frayed nerves, weariness and pent-up resentments that often beset lawmakers in the final week of a 60-day legislative session.
This time, the spark was a floor vote - which broke down on racial lines - confirming the ouster of former Broward County Supervisor of Elections Miriam Oliphant. On Monday, it was women objecting to abortion legislation. Both times, a proposal to take a "caucus position" on pending issues caused the rift.
"I find it very offensive," Sen. Gary Siplin, D-Orlando, said at a breakfast meeting of Senate Democrats. "You want to take a caucus position on certain issues but when you've got something important to black Democrats, you all voted with Republicans. You can't have it both ways; this is important to us, and y'all do it all the time."

Problem is IMO, they refer to wanting something back, but the directing they really mean is theirs, regarding personal power and wealth.
IMO, that communities leaders has sold them down the river in that party for at least 45 years now.
And since when should the fate of an incompetent like Miriam Oliphant become an issue of loyalty?
The destruction of the nuclear Black family, once the strongest family unit in America, was not done by accident.
And...the Democraps will never do anything for you, why should they, they will get 90% of your votes for free!
I think the word is "DUPE".
The best they can realistically hope for would be a "reach around."

Al Sharpton squealed like a pig over the Michigan caucus, claiming the democrats disenfranchized "his" voters. He vowed to fight for them but fell silent in time for the presidential election.
Regretably, they're not complaining that Democrats don't do enough for blacks, they're complaining that they don't do enough for black politicians, many of whom are only too eager to sell their souls and their people for money and power.
Oliphant is a corrupt incompetent. It sounds as if her corrupt and incompetent political allies are rallying around her.
Great point. No group is monolithic in its beliefs. I hope more blacks will be joining us.

You mean when will republicans start campaigning on issues important to the black community like school choice, traditional values and job producing tax cuts and when will the Republicans start giving black American's opportunites to serve at the highlest levels of government like Secretary of State and National Security advisor.....I don't know, you tell me.

I heard on the news tonight that Miriam is sueing Gov. Jeb Bush for being fired. You guess it, Oliphant is crying racism....Never mind that Jeb hired another black woman to replace Oliphant.
These demands over the last 40 years is wearing very thin on my skin. Jesse, Al, and Ferhakhan and the rest need to settle back home from the roots from whence they came.
They can return and participate in the issues in their home continent. AIDS, polio, death and starving...
Then they can move on to a Constitution, economic stability, education... medicine, science, mathmatics, physics, building a military; and some of the other entities that we have in America; which they love to criticize here in the United States of America.
I will never understand why 13% of the American population are allowed 90% of the "news."

Frederick Douglass is quoted as saying that "The Republican Party is the ship; all else is the sea." He was right then and he continues to be right today. The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again but expecting a different result. Politically speaking, American blacks are absoltely insane. But don't come here looking for sympathy. You're better than what you've been. Our heritage proves that. But you've squandered it like a drunk.
