A good way to beat inflation.
I like this.
Martha Ingram (Southern but married into Weyerhauser Yankees) or Monroe Carell or Carlton Turner could collectively or individually reel Reichmeister Gee in if they wished.
Gee's minions and his crazy wife are crusaders for all things PC.
Yet the big bucks behind Vandy is mostly from conservative families.
I have a good friend who is a professor at Vandy in a non-political department. He tells me if you are conservative you better shut up and either get published or bring in funding.
My mother-in-law got her degree from Peabody. I'll ping my wife on this and maybe she can pass the news on.

Amen and Amen.
If gold was $28 an ounce in those days, it would be about 1786 ounces, or $767,000.
Actually, wardaddy, Vandy has huge endowments and receives outrageous sums of money from the liberal northeastern foundations: Ford, Carnegie, Mellon etc.
So, socialist academics like Gee and Schoenfeld just spit in the face of the old Vanderbilt grads. They don't care about money anymore. They're riding on the endowment and foundation gravy train.
Indeed but look at the Trustees and the names on the recent big projects.
I think the term of abuse is "pencil-necked geek", btw.
The other guy from New York really started it, though, didn't he? If I were one of those Vanderbilt first families, I'd be looking for a barrel of tar and some chickenfeathers.
I find it an ironic reflection on our present-day society when one can proudly proclaim their hatred for intolerance yet at the same time be intolerant of sybmols that may bring their own cause into a bad light.
