The heart of the problem, we see, still exists. Scott has been coddled all his life: the Golden Boy who could do no wrong. He thought he would get away with it, and his parents want to help him do so. The arrogance of this family is astounding.
Sad.

Yes, the problem does still seem to be around and not the least bit chastened .

Conspicuously absent from Mr. Peterson's letter is any concern about who actually did kill his daughter-in-law. Or perhaps he denies that she's dead at all?

You know, the Peterson family really does need prayer. Seriously. I agree with the jury, just like most of America.

Consider how devastated his parents must be--how incredibly unbelievable to them is the fact their son is a murderer. I'm sure they did a good job when Scott was a kid. Scott made a very, very wicked choice. The psychological ruin put on his parents is one of his crimes--a crime for which he has not been convicted.

I might react the same way if my child did something so unbelievably heinous, out of character, out of the blue.

So I urge those of us who believe in prayer to say a little one for Scott's parents. We needn't sacrifice our compassion for them in order to demand justice for Scott's crimes.

A loving father with his blinders on attempting to defend his son. Too bad Scott didn't inherit any parental instinct from him. Scott sure didn't protect his child- He killed him.

Hmmm . . . Where did Scott get all that cash he had on him when he was caught? I don't think I ever heard (which is surprising since it seemed like the media hammered us 24/7 with every sordid detail). IF he got it from his old man, shouldn't Lee be in jail himself for helping his son to flee?

Also,
No one in Scott's family seems all that torn up at the loss of a grandchild.

Geez...
they must have a reptilian gene to be so cold-blooded.

"Cost taxpayers $ 4.1 Million" NOT including the cost keep him for the next 25 plus years plus public defender for appeals. There defense/belief in their son is unbelievable.

From the Letters to the Editor:

Where is he coming from?
I read the letter from Scott Peterson's father ("Investigation a $4.13 million lie," May 3 ) over and over again and tried to see where he was coming from. The only words that kept coming to my mind is "total state of denial."

Talk about a family in denial, denial, denial. Maybe Lee Peterson should read Catherine Crier's book "A Deadly Game" and "Blood Brother" by his stepdaughter, Anne Bird. The Modesto Police Department did an outstanding job of investigating Laci's disappearance and the district attorney did another fine job putting the pieces of the puzzle together to convict Scott Peterson.
Scott Peterson's parents should be ashamed of themselves for lying to police to protect their golden boy. In recorded conversations, his parents said terrible things and treated the Modesto Police Department terribly. The evidence all pointed to Scott Peterson as the killer. It is time for them to face reality and understand that their son did murder his wife and unborn son and received a just sentence.

In response to Lee Peterson's letter, I can only say that his son should have stood up in court like a man and proclaimed his innocence as loud as he could. Seems the court system did just what it was supposed to do.

Time was when parents would be ASHAMED of their son if he was convicted of a double murder. Time was when the parents would apologize to the parents of the murder victims, and even move away because they were so horrified and embarrassed by being the parents of a killer.

Now, however, too many people simply refuse to acknowledge the facts. "I don't like it, so it's not true." Talking to such people is like talking to the insane (no insult meant to the insane). They live in a world of self-delusion.

"Consider: There was no cause of death, no crime scene, no motive, not a shred of evidence in the home or truck, no background of abuse, not even a harsh word was heard from Scott to Laci by any witness — including Sharon Rocha or Laci's siblings or friends."

I agree with this statement. No proof that a murder was committed just a body and a babies body washed up on shore and the knowledge that she was missing.

He will win on appeal and be set free.

Money well spent, IMHO.

What is this suppose to suggest, if the cost is too steep, let cold blooded wife and offspring killers go free!?

The cost for that kind of mentality is far more greater, and damaging to society.

Well, I understand, but I'd like the WHOLE truth, not just the part this bozo thinks we should have.

Scott is keeping two pictures of Laci in his Cell. One of her wearing her wedding dress. Isn't that sweet?

He's definitely setting the stage for his appeal. But he won't win.

In all honesty, I don't believe they are interested in the truth.

Why did Scott alter his appearance while attempting to buy a used Mercedes using his mothers I.D., and carry a large amount of cash near the Mexican border? After all, didn't he sell Laci's car and buy himself a brand new truck?

And what a coincidence: he's fishing.....alone(unless you're a fly fisherman, people usually go fishing with family and/or friends) in the same area where Laci and their sons body was found on Christmas eve?! What about Laci's hair found on pliers in the boat? Let's not forget the bleach order which permeated the kitchen, or the blinds which a neighbor testified Laci always opened in the mornings, but were drawn the day of her disappearance. Call it circumstantial. I call it evidence that helped to convict Scott.

It looks like it runs in the family. Now we have screwball dad to go with belligerent mom and satanic son.

Whatever makes you think Lee's a screwball? I mean, just because on the day the jury found his son guilty of a double murder he was hundreds of miles away buying himself a Jaguar doesn't mean he doesn't care.
