O'Reilly's Post-Election "Hemorrhage"

In response to this morning's post about Paula Zahn's ratings, a CNN insider says: "FNC should be less concerned with Zahn's performance and more concerned with the fact that O'Reilly continues to hemorrhage viewers month-over-month since October." Here are the monthly averages:

October: 3,166,000
November: 3,080,000
December: 2,610,000
January: 2,478,000
February: 2,391,000
March: 2,320,000
April: 2,178,000
May-to-date: 2,096,000

I don't know about you, but since the weather has turned nice I don't watch as much TV anymore. Rather be outside.

I've tried to watch O'Reilly but I can't stand someone who asks his guest a question and then is too rude to let them answer it. He seems to do this everytime. He asks a question and then talks continuiously while they are trying to answer.

LHe is worth watching about three minutes... the initial commercial time!.

I put he and Hannity on in the background while at this computer but I don't pay any attention to them anymore. After listening to internet talk radio at work, in the car on the way home then in the kitchen after I get home, I'm pretty much newsed out.

Too much news and talkradio will make you go blind and give you a bad outlook on life. Fortunately this miserable winter is now over and I can take my bad attitude outside and work on my lawn and flowers.....

The Vomit family rid itself of tv 2 years ago.

I'm proud to state though that we turned O'reilly off long before that!

O'Reilly and Boortz seem cut from the same cloth. While both make some good points, who the heck wants to listen to a couple of lawyers being obnoxiously, smarmily, pretentiously right all the time?

I do not like O'R but these stats are sour grapes from CNN. They start in November when all political shows were high and now the stats are back to "normal". I wonder what CNN's stats are now compared to November.

Too much news and talkradio will make you go blind . . .

I thought it was something else that did that?

Anyway, I know what you mean. I'm in the mood for a few hits of "Seinfeld" in the evening - not the news.

The MSMs haven't figured it out. More & more viewers have less & less patience for the "Chrissy's" anymore. Give us the truth, then no or minimum spin and hold the arrogance.
Chrissy's include: Rather, Matthews, o'Reilly, Brown and many others.

It may be even worse then you think. IIRC Bill O'Reilly is not a lawyer. I know he was a teacher at one time.

Put Rush Limbaugh in his time slot (they'd have to dispense with "fair and balanced" for an hour per day but ratings would go through the roof.)

Good point. And then there is competition form the Nancy Grace Show.

There have been times I have strongly disagreed with O'Reilly. But he is one of the few who has dared to take on the ACLU for its stand on pedophiles, has criticized Rev. JJ, and now is putting much needed focus on our border problems. And often O'Reilly is interesting.

As for asking guests questions and not letting them answer, no one on earth can be as bad as Chris Matthews. O'Reilly's style is far more appealing than Matthews. Why is every one beating up on O'Reilly?

I lost whatever respect I had for him when he attacked the Swiftvets without even reading John O'Neil's book or interviewing any of them. He proved that, in addition to being a swollen-headed blowhard, he was happy to be deliberately ignorant about the most important story of the 2004 campaign and commit journalistic malpractice.

when o'reilly took the low road in his scandal( protecting his family), bull, for his actions brought his family to risk, PLUS taking the " democratic talking points views on WMD- NOT the primary reason for invasion of Iraq, I then realized he is in fact a politically correct closet liberal, and have not watched nor missed him since- he got his ratings, was ruling the world, and then thought he can just be true to himself,( he is now exposed) and the truth of that will cause his continued slide, he is flaming out, watch him burn

When you try to be in the "middle of the road" in politics, you usually get run over.

That is what is happening to O'Reilly. Neither the libs nor conservatives like him----that results in a declining audience.
