Latinos Rally Against Real I-D Act

Rockville (AP) - Hundreds of Latino immigrants - many of them illegal - gathered this afternoon in Rockville to protest proposed federal restrictions that would deny driver's licenses to illegal immigrants.

The federal Real I-D Act is part of the bill covering the costs of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. It has been passed by the U.S. House and endorsed by the White House. Opponents say the bill will likely pass in the Senate - maybe as early as next week.

Maryland is one of ten states that don't require applicants to prove they are citizens or legal residents. Still, several immigrants spoke to the crowd of about 400 of their struggles to get driver's licenses.

Supporters of the bill say it would make it harder for terrorists to slip through security unnoticed.

Many members of crowd carried signs reading: "We're not terrorists" and "America is a country of immigrants."

Illegals gather in one place, publicly, and what do the Feds do? Nothing, apparently.

1. This act shows the ILLEGALS ARE ORGANIZED - not happenstance or "seeking the good life".
2. Where is ICE? If the need 12 or more for an arrest to be "cost effective", where are they? Someone witnessing should call NOW!
3. Giving them a Driver Lic will drive AMERICAN TRUCK DRIVERS out of business - onshoring what was offshoring.
4. Isn't Drive Up Voting Still in EFFECT? If so NO LICENSE FOR YOU!

PS - For the Democrats who say we cannot deport the illegals because there are too many - you eat an elephant sandwich one bite at a time. It has been said that the illegals, numbering a population equal to Pennsylvania, cost the taxpayers $68 Billion Dollars a year, That cost is one o th reasons why there are requirements to enter the US and the reason we have wide scale non compliance with the tax laws. If the Government can fund the illegals, they don't need my money!

What would a National ID card give the gov't that they presently do not have with our Social Security number? What more information could they possibly gather that they do not have access to already?

Locate Plus has information on over 98% of the US Citizens, the IRS and FBI have that and more... worrying about what might be as opposed to reality and the safety of the country doesn't make sense.

It is a done deal.

Homeland security has been quietly closing the fences re Driver's Licenses in the past year.

My wife uses her Middle Name instead of her first name. That was no problem with California Driver's licenses for over 30 years, until last year. Her Driver's license with her initial for her first Name and her full Middle Name wasn't renewed as it didn't perfectly match her ss# and name from the SS office.

She had to got the Local Social Security Office to get an official name change on her card/number to reflect her use of the initial of her first name with her middle Name as the full and key name. Once her Social Security Card was revised and got in the DMV computer, she was able to renew her license.

She knows over a dozen women who ran into similiar problems like not listing their married names or getting a divorce and going back to their maiden name with their social security card showing a difference with the DMV. They, too had a fun visit of several hours to their local SS office to get everything to match.

So illegal aliens without a valid SS # or ones using another SS illegally are not getting drivers licenses or renewals.

One final comment as I am happy they are PO'd for once instead of me. For those worried about a Nation ID, horror of horrors, it is bvetter than martial law. Remember the United States has a very large ARMY under the direction of the Commander in Chief, the President the Dems love to hate. A President could seize control of the country and that has not happened in our history The "worry" over a National ID is nonsense, almost ALL Hispanic countries have a "cedula" so they will be used to the idea.

Granted a National ID goes against our CULTURE, but the illegal immigrants have forced it upon us and changed our culture. Imagine if they were in control. That is a WORRY! I would hate to see the next change, martial law. Control and deport the illegals NOW!
