Now, I don't want to defend Jack Chirac, but I'm not going to allow a newspaper to dictate the public mood (even of France). Anyway, I suspect they are just beginning to fume over the upcoming rejection of the EU constitution.

Would that not have been a sight? Kerry licking this maggot's boots. The ramifications make me ill, just thinking about it...

Chirac is not liked in France because he's not socialist enough! That says it all about France. For all their good education standards they are taught nothing useful regarding how economics work.

No, but he is crooked enough. To find out ANYTHING about Chirac, just follow the money. France is in for a real revival, when the Muslims keep coming in and keep breeding. Socialism in France just may end up doing battle with terrorism and Islam, as opposed to capitalism.

"most note that his domestic support has slumped to a new low."

Here's the kicker: while the global news media has been claiming that the War On Iraq was unpopular, the two main opponents of that war, Chirac and Schroeder, are now very unpopular in their own countries of France and Germany.

Moreover, the main proponents of that war, Bush, Blair, and Howard of Australia...have all been re-elected by substantial margins above their anti-war opposition.

Hmmm...methinks the press has been getting what is popular and what is unpopular...backwards.

Chirac had a star? That's news to me. Oh wait, he did have one brief period of time with his buddy Saddam Hussien.
