Explanation copied from the source:
So as most of you know its Graduation Weekend here in Pullman. My 8:00AM ceremony went off without a hitch, but Ahoyo's graduation was another thing. It must be known that "Governor" Gregoire was the commencement speaker for the College of Business graduation. The Accounting department is part of this college, this will play a key role in this story. Well the commencement started like normal with the respective colleges walking in single file. One may have noticed the Accounting department had Accounting spelled out one letter at a time on their mortarboards. Well as soon as "Governor" Gregoire took the stage they quickly changed one of the c's to an a and shuffled around their hats. The end result was the phrase "Count Again" spelled out on their mortarboards. FUNNIEST [edit~hair] EVER! Pictures of this momentus occasion are attached.

For those of you who don't know about the situation here in Washington State and the governor's race here is a little history. In 2004 the race was recounted three times, with Dino Rossi (R) winning the first two recounts and "Governor" Gregoire (D) winning the third and final recount. Now a little county court in Chelan County Washington must decide if the race was invalid. This has been going on since the election in November. The litigation is set to start very soon and I'm sorry I don't have an exact date. For more information contact ReVoteWa.com

If possible, can you substitute these three links for the above source? His hotlinks aren't gonna hold up for a busy thread. It's grinding slow.

Something doesn't seem right. Of all the graduates in the picture, only some people from accounting put something on their mortar? I suspect photoshop and fake.
It's certainly an easy thing to fake, but the fact that it was organized by only some of the members does not in itself make it unbelievable.
Its not that only some of the members participated that is suspicious, its that not a single other grad has anything on their mortar that is suspicious.
Maybe... ;~D
The Mafia Queen (tobacco company extortionist) stuffed the ballot box, stole the election, declared it a "model for democracy" and then sought revenge on Washington State voters for not electing her Governor.

pretty cool deal
Hilarious if real.
Yeah, it probably is faked, else the libs in the crowd would have gone ape with booing and shut down the ceremony. We would have heard about it. Still a funny photoshop gag.
That woman needs a tar and feather make up job.
Thanks for the ping
If this is for real, it's a hoot. If true, wonder how Fraudoire reacted?
GO COUGS!!!
It's possible she wouldn't know. You'd only see it from behind.
As an ex-accountant, I must say
Absolutely brilliant!!!
I was there. The photos are real. It was great!
Awesome!!
That's good to hear! My spidey sense was that it was a real thing, and not photoshopped.
Simply brilliant idea. It's the sort of thing that once you think of it, it simply *must* be done.
Outstanding !
This was good, very GOOD!
Accountants with a sense of humor?
Too funny.
What was the reaction? I think this is a hoot!
When the world knows you're a fraud, there's just no escaping the truth!
Public Admin. 79 and 80
A little accountant humor ping
Gutsy move!
The times they are a-changing!
[not to be confused with the bogus NYT PR thread]

I'm emailing this link around!
At universities, different colleges graduate together. That's the norm. You're seeing the school of accounting grads in their separate ceremony. That's exactly how it's done. The computer geeks have their own...life sciences their own.....business school their own........etc.
No, this is the business school graduation ceremony, of which the accouting department is but one section partaking in the graduation. This is not the "accounting department" graduation ceremony.
[What was the reaction?]
There really wasn't a group reaction, because it was done so subtly. It was non-disruptive, clever, and to the point...perfect. The grads wore "accounting" at all times except during Gregoire's speech, when they quietly shuffled hats to spell "count again". Gregoire would not have seen it from her position.
I was scanning with my camcorder searching for my son who was sitting about 5 rows back of the accountants. I saw the joke about 2 minutes into her speech. Over the next 10 minutes, I heard 4 or 5 chuckles as those around me noticed one by one.
The ceremony was for 1/3 of the WSU graduating class, maybe 900 or so. The graduates covered the entire basketball floor plus a section of risers in the rear, so the photos show only a small portion of them. There were a fair number of other grads with various unique markings on their caps, they just don't happen to appear in the photo.
Gregoire's speech was ordinary, but generally appropriate, attempting to inspire achievement. She worked in one snotty comment about how "cable news and talk radio are responsible for the discord in civil proceedings", which had me biting my tongue to hold back the many obvious retorts.
Afterwards, Gregoire shook hands with each grad following receipt of their diplomas. All were courteous. Compare to the loudly profane pie-throwers of the left. I was amused and impressed, and my mother, who voted for Gregoire and applauded her speech enthusiastically, admitted it was clever.
Cougs Rule!!!
Trust me, I was there sitting in the stands. It is not a fake, it is real and I know 5 of the guys who pulled this amazingly funny prank.
