Is there any hope that the GOP can wrest this seat from the grip of socialist moon-bats?

The best hope was that Governor Jim Douglas would run as the Republican nominee. However, he has unequivocably said he will not.

Best chance now is probably Richard Tarrant, a very wealthy software company CEO. He may be willing to sink quite a bit of personal money into a race.

The thing is, it's Vermont . . . not a big state. Money isn't as important here as in most states. Not as many television markets to purchase in.

Lt. Gov. Dubie has expressed interest, and he'd be as good a candidate as we can hope for now that Gov. Douglas has ruled our a Senate run. Dubie is very conservative for a Vermonter but has won statewide twice already.

I think that, counterintuitively, the Federal Marriage Amendment issue could help us even in liberal Vermont. With neighboring Massachusetts Democrats endorsing gay marriage and with the decreasing likelihood of a Massachusetts constitutional amendment banning gay marriage being approved by the state legislature, even those Vermonters who approve of civil unions may feel the need for a federal constitutional amendment banning gay marriage.

Not unless the Democrats abandon their voting fraud machine ( probability starting up as we speak ).

It doesn't look too good. A new Research 2000 poll on the Vermont Senate race:

Sanders 62%, Tarrant 18%
Sanders 59%, Dubie 23%
Sanders 61%, Rainville 18%
