SB 319, the state level gun ban which is more extensive than the federal ban that sunsetted last year, has been re-referred to the Senate Judiciary C Committee. SB 319 would ban the possession..

Let me reiterate, the crimes in New Orleans are not by way or use of AK's in any popular manner, just the opposite. The most popular and used gun by criminals is the 9mm handgun, this is City Stats for New Orleans - I can't speak for any other city but mine.

This one you dont see much because they want people to still fear these guns, they are evil looking and that must make them more deadly right.. To the contrary, actually my AK is less deadly than my 30-06 because I can pick of something or a lot of somethings at a distance much greater than my AK can reach and do it accurately. This is IF I had the mindset of some insane criminal. I prefer to not even go in that direction but to show my point, the AK is less deadly when it comes to certain aspects. Remember, I can load up as many rounds as I want, if I were a criminal would it matter if I used a large illegal magazine or a 5 round magazine? If I were a criminal would I worry about the fact that this gun is now controlled, of course not, the criminal mindset dont even take these issues into consideration.

Law abiding people are going to be made into criminals and have their freedon plundered.

"SB 319 would ban the possession and future purchase of certain semi-automatic firearms unless an individual has obtained a two-year, $100 permit from the State Police".

Kind of hazy, isn't it?
The word POSSESSION, infers they will make ILLEGAL, "certain" semi-autos one may ALREADY possess through legal and registered purchase!!

WHAT "certain" semi-autos will be banned without a "permit"?

Do we REALLY want some leftist Congress Critters or State Police DEFINING "certain"?

If this passes --- and allows the state to use previously legal "registered" purchase records to run down previously legal owners to make them secure ADDITIONAL approval at the cost of several hundred dollars to retain firearms they purchased legally and registered ------ then the registration process must be destroyed..

This coonass redneck geek sure wont. They can try and take my guns but they will get them - one round at a time.

I am a proud coonass, proud to be a redneck (see racecar, ducks and dogs in back yard) and very proud to be a true gun owning geek! I shoot competitions every week on a local level and once a month on a national level, how do you think I feel knowing they are coming after TWO of my sports, hunting and shooting? I have a little place for my photos of the legal and clean fun we have with our guns. http://www.lamgs.com/photos/ My wife is also a pro shooter.

The coonass wife..

Does she look like someone you would expect to be in the sport of pistol competition? Law abiding everyday housewife and mother to two kids, she loves her guns and her sport - but this is the exception! How many moms are out there with a CCW and dads with the same that have at least one SKS in the house? The SKS is the handiest and cheapest gun to shoot next to the .22 and is perfect for hog hunting and just trugging through the swamps. Nice simple and cheap but because it was ONCE and maybe still IS a military gun it's evil.. Sorry I am fired up over this nutcase Sen. Ann Duplessis. What makes a gun EVIL is the person behind it, it's only going to do what the users makes it do and it's no fault of the gun, it's the psycho using it in a crime that needs to be hanged, not the gun industry or gun owners. Hell I am all for "REALLY STRONG GUN LAWS aimed at CRIMINAL USE or USAGE OF A GUN IN A CRIME" not restricting our access or even allowing someone to choose if I can or can not own one. It's my choice as a free American Citizen!

The Libertarian party supports orgs like PETA and is also against hunting (PLEASE CORRECT ME IF I AM WRONG - maybe I am thinking of the green party???). There are extremes to all sides and here again, what is the lesser of the evils?? I eat what I kill and I also gratefully eat what others kill, it's the way man has survived for ages. We have teeth for tearing meat and teeth for grinding greens - to balance the chemistry in the body you need red meat, at least white meat as well as starches and vegies. Am I barking up the wrong tree here? (green party trees maybe?) Take a look at a vegetarian, their skin hangs lose and not one that I know of is physically fit or balanced. Supplemts are just that supplements, they do not replace the proper foods.

Not to go further off on a tangent here, soon we will have starved the ground of nutrients and our vegatables will be worthless in terms of nutritional value - how long do we have before the ground we plant our food in is unable to support us because we sucked it dry?

As we move along we will be reliant on other countries till their resources are also exhausted, right now not many countries would even be willing to help us. How about that for a statement, the Superpower US asking for help - never!!! We need game management and hunting to properly manage the wildlife and also feed us, growing and farming cattle is getting risky with the diseases spreading so what do we have left - wildlife.. How do we thin and manage the population - a single shot from a Semi-Auto or bolt action 30-06 or .308 rifle. Anything less would be cruel - but wait, we won't have tools to hunt, back to spears and arrows or at least till someone robs a gas station with a bow and arrow..

A ban? Sounds like a tax to me.

The $50 “tax” on ammo along with a $50 a year permit fee would pretty much disarm me – particularly the ammo “tax”.

Pleased ta meet ya Eaker!

That would be a picture of my wife.. By the way, the engine block is not hanging in the tree, I dont have a tree for it to hand from, it's in the shead and there's also one in the garage. That race car I speak of in my back yard, it's my wife's car - that young girl in the picture above. She is the driver not me. heh..

Neither my wife or myself know who our biological parrents are - there is a possibility. We are both adopted.

PS: Since my wife is following this thread from home while I am at the office, she can think of getting some gumbo together for those crabs we just boiled!! HINT! The file' is in the pantry, get your roux going and get to the grocery. Cajun enough? Do we qualify?

Yeah we agree seeing how we have to cover 100% of our healthcare ourselves and raise two kids along with that. That sort of tax would force me to order tens of thousands of rounds of ammo (each gun) and have it shipped to my friend in Mississippi as a gift where he would not see any reason to have it since he dont have any guns and then give it to me. lol.. tons of ways around most of this bill legally and i doubt it will get through but this one has a better chance. The thing to do is stock up now before anything happens to air on the side of caution. If for any reason this never happens, you have a lot of plinking ammo or something to hold you over for when the martians attack (joke).. Remember the first assault weapons ban passed because a lot of us sat by and said, it will never pass...... well that's exactly how this one will, on a fast track, quietly and without much oposition unless we pass the word and get people to speak out. the phone number for her local office (marked in BOLD) has an answering machine on it right now. Use it but do it responsibly and nicely.

Forgive me for not being up on all these different parties, I am Ind. neither Rep. or Dem. Certainly not Democrat that's for darn sure.. So yo say the green party wants to help quash the nutty gun laws and help protect our right to keep and bear arms? they are also pro hunting and pro gun?

I thought Nader was a green, if I am not mistaken, not to insult either but is he not the biggest goof ball? He never did strike me as someone capable of maintaining his temper or being capable of dealing with any sort of pressure - something a president needs to be able to do.. although bush is not the smartest whip around, at least he has advisors who tell him when its time to shup up, you're looking dumb again. Well I am pro-bush mostly, just never did see any other choice to be honest. Kerry is a whining cry-baby two faced liar and completely out the question, nader could not handle getting a simple pie in his face and lost it on national tv so that eliminates him, Bush at least rolls with the punches and such. Imagine where we would be, our troops even more so if we had either Nader or Kerry in office, now imagine what would be happening on our home-front without the added security?

So what Party will preserve our gun rights? I always believed it would be the Republican Party.

all are engaged in a war for our very way of life!

Simple. The governments in this Nation are solidly behind the destruction of our way of life. This effort comes from both parties. When the Sheeple wake up and realize this perhaps these trends can be reversed.

Hi All-

"...Another Gun Ban but directly affects hunters and legal law-abiding citizens..."

Is there ANY other type of gun ban? They never affect criminals.

That is how they restrict machine guns. They not 'banned' so much as taxed in a prohibitive manner.
