Prince Harry the "Con" Artist

Prince Harry is a 'weak' student, who cheated: Eton teacher Mon May 9, 9:47 AM ET

Prince Harry was a "weak" student at school whose final work for an art examination was completed by a member of staff, a former teacher at his prestigious private school alleged.

Sarah Forsyth, who is claiming unfair dismissal by Eton College, also told an employment tribunal that she wrote virtually all the accompanying text for an art project submitted to external examiners by the prince, now 20.

She considered this to be "unethical and probably constituted to cheating", Forsyth -- a former art teacher at the elite school which charges more than 22,000 pounds a year -- said in a statement on Monday.

When the case began in October last year -- it was later adjourned -- Forsyth alleged she had been ordered by a school administrator to help the young royal pass his art exam.

On Sunday, Harry began training to become a British Army officer at the Sandhurst military academy, a place that was dependent on certain minimum examination results.

The prince just qualified with a B grade in art and a D in geography in his A Levels, final school examinations taken by 18-year-olds in England and Wales.

Forsyth's statement to the tribunal added to her earlier allegations, claiming that the head of Eton's art department would sometimes paint work for pupils as he talked to them.

He also completed one of Harry's examination pieces in the prince's absence, she said Monday.

Forsyth, whose contract with Eton was not renewed during the summer of 2003, also claims she wrote the text to an art project handed in by the prince the previous year, for which Harry thanked her.

"I was concerned that this was unethical and probably constituted to cheating," her statement said.

"I assumed I had been asked to do this because Prince Harry was a weak student," she continued, adding that teachers at Eton had been "desperate" to find ways to award the young royal marks.

"However, I did not think I could tell anyone else about the incident without fear of victimisation and was not aware that statutory protection against such victimisation existed.

"I have recently seen for the first time extracts of the written material which was submitted on Prince Harry's behalf and can confirm that it was nearly all written by me."

Eton denies the allegations, and insists Forsyth left the school simply because her teaching was not good enough.

The case was continuing.

To all you History buffs and royal watchers...How far back is it possible to trace the British Royal Family? I've gotten as far as back as 'Pepin the Elder' in the early 7th century.

Maybe harry can become a pimp or a rap artist. A couple of business classes and he'll be set. Doesn't have to live totally off the British public.

Bring back the Stuarts! (Ironically, through Princess Diana's family, they ARE the closest living members of the Royal Family to the Stuarts)

This bunch wasn't always the British Royal Family.

The current lot is a bunch of imported Germans who changed their names to "Windsor" because the British were having a misunderstanding with the Kaiser.

And then there was the wholee "House of Orange" thing before them...

Bring back the Stuarts! I think I read somewhere that Diana would be considered to have a more royal claim than Charles through the Stuarts

One scenario is that Queen Elizabeth lives long like her own mother, Charles dies early or abdicates, and William become king, and has more royal claim than his dad.

There is still a direct line going back to Queen Victoria who was George III's grandaughter...and on backwards. The name changed because of marriage.

"One scenario is that Queen Elizabeth lives long like her own mother, Charles dies early or abdicates, and William become king, and has more royal claim than his dad."

I think that will indeed be the case -- much like Queen Victoria who lived to a ripe old age. Her son, Edward, was an old man when he assumed the throne and reigned for less than 10 years. His son, George, then assumed the throne and he was no spring chicken, either.

I guess Harry will have to run a country, he's not qualified to do anything else.

Now people won't be making fun of GW as a dullard, but can have a real academic failure to make fun of for the rest of his life.

None of the royals are what one would call intellectually gifted and Harry is probably not the sharpest tool in the royal shed.

Throw the blighter out..Sandhurst is also dependent upon
character...the prince doesn't seem to have much..

Hopefully Harry won't be given any authority or much responsibility..

..kind of like Fredo Corleone

If she herself considered it unethical, although I doubt any sane Brit would actually say something "probably constituted to cheating, why did she write all of it?

Ivan, if you might be so kind as to enlighten us, why the hell does a British Army officer need any art in the curriculum?

Beyond recognizing nice marbles for expatriation opportunity, of course. ;)

I believe that Princess Diana had an ancestor who was the son or daughter of Charles II. However, the child was born on "the other side of the blanket"... its Mother was one of the King's mistress'.

I don't think a "B" in Art would be as much a problem for a British Army officer. However, I would raise an eyebrow at the "D" in Geography.

Indeed.

If the sun never sets on your empire, you should perhaps know a bit about it, what?
