NEW YORK (CNN) -- Federal agents arrested a man on Monday, charging him with possessing and selling more than 1,300 counterfeit badges representing 35 law enforcement agencies, the U.S. Immigrations and Customs Enforcement agency said.

The counterfeits are "very, very good," said Special Agent in Charge Martin Ficke, who added that nine out of 10 would "pass scrutiny."

Democratic Party operative Raymond Reggie was let off by the Judge today for USING one of these.

No problem for Democrat Party operatives.

Along with the badges, they seized two NYPD police uniforms, two-way radios and six firearms, including a Glock 9 mm handgun, a Beretta semiautomatic rifle and a Winchester shotgun, the agency said. Agents also confiscated a used casing from a shoulder-fired missile

It's funny, the feds are so gung ho about having some kind of standardized drivers license, how about they start with standardizing first responder IDs. Which is a bigger threat?

Whenever I see a person flash a badge, and it says "REMOTE LINKING FORBIDDEN, 50megs does not support remote linking of images or files for FREE accounts, PLEASE UPGRADE YOUR ACCOUNT", .....

.... I ask to speak to their supervisor.

Posing as a DHL courier, a federal agent delivered the package to the Bronx apartment of Sergio Khorosh, a Russian who is a permanent U.S. resident, the agency said. After he signed for the package, U.S. Marshals served a search warrant.

Why would a Russian national get in the business of importing fake badges? Hmmmm.

Impersomating an officer is what got Johny Carson in the Navy---the judge told him he knew how to make it real. Do you suppose a bunch of wanna be's could wind up the same way?

I don't think this is the least bit funny. How many terrorists have purchased these phoney badges - badges which will allow them access to places the average citizen cannot go.

THIS IS NOT FUNNY - THIS IS SCARY AS HELL. The terrorists might not do anything with the badges except get access to places to find out logistics information.

The Man Behind The Badge

"THIS IS NOT FUNNY - THIS IS SCARY AS HELL. The terrorists might not do anything with the badges except get access to places to find out logistics information."

They can use counterfeit badges, but no terrorist could possibly mimic the charm of those who carry them.

I am comforted though, in knowing that this week in the Mpls/St Paul area, police will be taking part in cracking down on people not wearing seat belts. They'll have extra enforcement on the job for it.

Laugh it up. Until a band of jihadis comes across the Mexican border and gets some of these fake badges and FBI/DEA outfits uses them to home invade some family and behead them on video.

The regular run of the mill home invaders use such tactics and succeed. If the terrorists are taking notes they might try something like that.

".......badges were shipped from Taiwan........."

I'd say a few phone calls to the Taiwanese Embassy are in order regarding our dispatching a few US 'Operatives' to Taiwan and that they should be given a free hand in taking care of the manufacturer.

This is the LEAST the Taiwanese Gub'mint could do seeing as how we keep standing up for them.

Thats how seriously I'm taking this.

You got me there. I would hope that a back/trace has already been initiated in the course of the investigation by whoever is in charge (FBI?) to find the little slant-eyed entrepenurial-scumbag thats responsible for this crap.

Who knows, maybe its a Chi-com agent or sympathizer working in Taiwan. A few years back here at FR I got an irate responce to a post from a newbie from Taiwan who was reeeeeeeally po'ed when I referred to the Chi-coms as a bunch of Fascists.

Not all Taiwanese are our friends.

Must have been a chi-com sympathizer. Lately the KMT (now called Pan Blue) have been really sucking up to the ChiCom government, including illegal and unauthorized trips and between KMT and ChiCom leaders, and rumors of a secret deal between the ChiComs and KMT.
