Don't cry for Griego. She'll get another job in newspapers. Maybe even higher pay. She's got a Latino name, and that's what counts. They might need to fire a couple more 50sh white men to open up the budget for her, but I'm sure there are newspapers that have already decided who must be fired, and they've left messages with Griego, or her agent, already.
Can a newspaper be sued by readers for deliberately false reporting? I guess you could only get back, as damages, the 50 cents you paid for the rag, so we probably won't be seeing any lawsuits against lying newspapers and fabricating writers. --- But maybe a class action suit by a bunch of readers -- ?
Did Griego believe that the world, or the US at least, is full of discrimination against minorities? If it is, how'd she land her job?
But they haven't proved anything! She quit for personal reasons. Denies she did wrong, and says they won't find any evidence that she did wrong. Last time I heard "they won't find any evidence of wrong," it was Hillary, on Today show, saying Monica was lying about Bill. This is also a standard retort of captured criminals on TV -- "You can't prove that!"
I don't know which is more common these days: reporters exposed as liars and frauds or teachers caught with students or Teddy Kennedy puking on the Constitution or John McCain puking on the Republican Party.
What a shame...
