A trucker who drives Utah to California tells me that they have been open every week for nine and a half years.

I go to Reno via I-80 about 10 times a year for business, gambling and machine gun shooting. For the past 2 to 2-1/2 years the booth have been closed with a sign up saying to drive right through.

The CHP has a truck inspection station that is always open but that is for commercial vehicles. The Plant Inspection Station is for provate vehicles to stop pest infestation. I don't think it does any good and we have all the pests anyway.

Would you care to tell atomic_dog your experiences with the scales and the AG Inspection Station on I-80.

I agree with your post. All of it. However, what are we to do if we cannot get the Feds to act? I have very reluctantly come to the conclusion that, no matter how much money they provide for border patrol, no matter how many new BP officers are hired, and no matter how many bold press releases are issued by the White House (or Congress), they will drag their feet at every opportunity and obstruct any real reform and efforts to call a halt to the flood of illegal aliens. Consequently, I would definitely support a state border police, but only when I am convinced they would aggressively (very aggressively) protect and defend the California border.

Experiences? Mostly that people that work at the bug stations in California are the flunkies that couldn't meet the minimum qualifications to be flaggers.

but ALL the ag stations comming into the state work 24/7/365

the internal ones generally work only when there's an alert of an infestation in a peticular area such as the glassy winged sharpshooter caused in the citrus belt at the south end of the central valley and the napa valley.

nothing came out of those areas without an ag. inspection and cert., and one citrus grower was forced to burn and up root his entire grove by Santa Paula.

they only screen what comes into the state, they don't give a darn what they send out, but they work full time...
