I know of 2 companies that were put out of business in my town due to union strikes.

Exactly and many jobs have gone overseas due to exorbitant demands made by unions.....which companies could not meet and continue to stay in business.

The higher the flames rise on unions, the more I like it.

Unions can burn in hell!

The democrats have nothing in the past 30 years to help the average working man or women.

They support free trade and massive illegal immigration. And have done nothing in terms of fiscal or tax policy to help the middle and working class.

Most average people have finally realized this and hence the decline.

"...the Unions have organized in government & education where they can get whatever they scream loudest for by browbeating taxpayers.

Sorry, it is not the Taxpayer they are browbeating, it is the policticians.

The reason government employees should be forbidden by law to join unions is that it creates a one sided situation.

The policticians have little incentive not to give in to whatever the unions wants since it is NOT their money, and in their way of thinking they will be long gone before the chickens come home to roost.

At one time government employement was a lower paid job but with secure employement and a pension at the end of the person's career. In the private sector, a person may make more money, but there were more risk.

Now, thanks to the unions, the goverment employee is paid equal too, and many times more then a person in the private sector, plus the added benefit of almost no chance of being fired, and a better pension then anyone in the private sector can hope for.

The elected officials that oversee all this have a major conflict of interest. First it is not their money. Second, they are picking up campaign donations from the same unions they deal with at contract time. And last, they don't plan on being around with the house of cards falls.

If we can not forbid government employees from joining union, then at minimum we must have any labor contract be voted on my the taxpayers, the true employers.

Ok, ok! I'll believe your parents were married. But that's as far as I'll go.

The teachers union is very adept at 'browbeating' taxpayer to vote tax increases. In MA & FL (states I'm familiar with) students have told me that teachers have told them to 'tell their parents' to vote for more taxes. They are brainwashing the kids that every issue regarding education is solved by throwing more money at it.
