MEXICO CITY (Reuters) - Mexican President Vicente Fox called recent U.S. measures to stem illegal immigration a step back for bilateral relations on Friday and said Mexican migrants do jobs "that not even blacks want to do."
In comments likely to raise the temperature of the immigration debate, Fox defended the role of undocumented Mexican workers in the United States to a group of Texas business people meeting in Mexico.
"There is no doubt that Mexicans, filled with dignity, willingness and ability to work are doing jobs that not even blacks want to do there in the United States," he said in a speech broadcast in part on local radio and reported on newspaper web sites.
Fox said recent, tougher measures against immigrants do not represent "the road we should be building between friends and partners."
Mexico has been seeking an accord with Washington for years to make it easier for millions of illegal Mexican immigrants to live and work in the United States. The country expects to repatriate this year more than 250,000 foreigners, mostly Central Americans headed for the U.S. border.
Mexican hopes were raised early last year when President Bush proposed a temporary worker program but it has become bogged down in Congress.
A key partner in U.S. border security, Mexico is upset at new U.S. controls on foreign-born people, including tougher rules to obtain drivers' licenses.
Congressional Republicans attached the immigration changes to legislation providing $82 billion in emergency funds for fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan. Bush is expected to sign the legislation into law soon.
The law, approved unanimously by the Senate on Tuesday, waives environmental rules to allow the extension of a fence on the border between California and Mexico to stop illegal immigrants. Mexico calls the measure "overly extreme."
But Fox said he was encouraged by a bill put forward on Thursday by Sens. John McCain, an Arizona Republican, and Edward Kennedy, a Massachusetts Democrat, to allow some of the estimated 10 to 12 million illegal immigrants in the United States to get legal jobs and eventual citizenship.
"I hope President Bush will support and push the initiative, as he has publicly agreed. I have to take his word and hope he delivers," Fox said.
Uh-Oh .... I wonder what their response will be to that?
Fox is a racist bigot.
Unbelievable. Just unbelievable.
Maybe we ought to send the Black Congressional Caucus down there to open up a can of whoop-@ss on them.
I hope Fox gets voted out, and the new guy will piss off Bush and Bush will come to our side.
Sorry, I looked before I posted, but didn't find it.
(This is my first time to post an article.)
"'There is no doubt that Mexicans, filled with dignity, willingness and ability to work are doing jobs that not even blacks want to do there in the United States,' he said in a speech broadcast in part on local radio and reported on newspaper web sites."
Oh boy. Not even blacks? I am sure the NAACP will love that bit of commentary.
Who the hell is Vicente Fox to tell us how we should issue drivers licenses?
How is it that ILLEGAL aliens somehow get turned into "immigrants" in the mainstream media. They are here ILLEGALY. All illegal aliens should be deported whenever found, and all companies hiring them should face stiff penalties for doing so.
A nation that can not control its borders will not survive as a viable country in the longterm. At this stage, we have lost complete control of our borders - and it has happened willingly.
" said Mexican migrants do jobs "that not even blacks want to do.""
blaahhahaha...splitting coffee on my computer...blahahahaa
Americans of all races will do these jobs that the illegals are doing right now. The employers just want to hire the illegal because they can get around government regulations and taxes.
The solution is tighter boarder security and very tough fines for businesses who employ illegals.
Where is Jesse and crowd with their indignation!
Fox News did a documentary interviewing a Border Patrol man and his wife (last year), who live in a trailer right on this side of the fence. They are BEGGING for our government to send help down to them, ANY kind of help. Even if is our National Guards.
Night after night, the Border patrol and his wife wearing night goggles take pictures for proof. Thousands are coming across in hordes. And that IS night after night. Fox News even showed the video tapes that the Border and his wife have been taking of these people jumping the fence and running.
The Fox Newsman (I forget his name. He has the gray hair, is tall, thin with a long thin face), spent the night with this couple, also using night goggles to watch for himself.
The next morning, they walked about the yard. She said that they are NOT all Mexican's. That they have found the books of the Koran and prayer rugs dropped in haste as the people jumped the fence and ran on into our Country.
She showed the rugs and the books to the Fox Newsman. It was horrifying.
What with all the Mosque's in our Country, what better shelter for the terrorists to find shelter? They are here, people. Scattered all over the United States.
Here is an updated map of where all the Mosque's are. Look and weep for our Country.
January 28, 2005 - Despite widespread news reports linking Moroccan Muslims to worldwide terrorism, Florida Congressman Ric Keller (R-8-FL) has declined to call for a formal FBI or Government Accounting Office (GAO) investigation of Orlando Homeland Security official Mary Schneider's concrete evidence of green card bribery of immigration officials by illegal Moroccan Muslims linked to a terrorist cell in Keller's central Florida congressional district--the hub of Sunshine State tourism and airline traffic.
Our interview with the Orlando immigration adjudication officer revealed that Keller, who is a member of the House Subcommittee on Crime, Terrorism and Homeland Security told Mary Schneider "your problem is not a matter within the purview of a federal agency." Full Story
"It is a certain fact that not all Muslims are terrorists, but it is equally certain, and exceptionally painful, that almost all terrorists are Muslims..."

Time magazine quote:
The number of illegal aliens flooding into the US this year will total 3 million - enough to fill 22,000 Boeing 727-700 airliners, or 60 flights every day for a year.
God forbid Fox does anything to stimulate the Mexican economy.
Well, if Fox wants his non-black workers to come and do the work that "even blacks' won'd do, how's 'bout we send in some SWAT teams to Mexico to help with crime and drug control that "even Mexicans" won't do?
Congrats on your 1st post!! The other was titled slightly different, but has a good thread running. It's happened to me before...(a couple of times..lol) ~ jj
Who the hell is Vicente Fox to tell us how we should issue drivers licenses?
Who the hell is he to TELL US ANYTHING? Since when is Mexico running the U.S. government? Well, maybe I should not have asked that question....what we are witnessing is the ultimate in the damage that the disease called EXTREME LIBERALISM has created for the U.S. --- and the country club in Washington is far more concerned about their stinking politics that they are ABOUT THE U.S. AND ITS CITIZENS.
There are more than enough Americans to do those jobs, we just expect to get paid for working.
Hey Vincente, Put some guacamole on it!
Fox can't be 'votedout'. Constitutionally, the Mexican president only serves the one 6-year term, so he's through no matter what in 2006. The new prez is apt to be the very Marxist mayor of Mex City...and you won't fancy THIS chap at all.
Mexico need us far more than we need their cast off citizens.
I would not care if our military went down there and cleaned out the whole bunch of crooks and installed a true democratic government.
The reporter on that sign looks like Hannity with a mustach.
I just e-mailed this article to Terry Anderson, and I'll be sure to tune in to Terry's show tomorrow night. I KNOW he will have something to say.
Vicente articulates the racism of elitists so well. I guess there weren't any black businessmen among that Texas group that he spoke to, eh?
I'm phoning the White House early Monday to ask President Bush to denounce this remark by Fox and to defend the dignity of American blacks, most of whom are legal citizens and MANY of whom have contributed and do contribute to the greatness of this nation, including military service.
Man, this kind of talk gets under my skin!
The problem isn't really Fox. It's the US government. We've ignored this situation for so long that it's now reached a crisis.
yeah maybe my comment wasnt such a good idea
If there is ever a terrorist attack because of this border issue then Bush should resign. I'm not going to fall for some stupid week of sobbing and flag waving, I'm going to be royally pissed.
I am scanning the horizon for J.J. also...
Press 2 for English
Them's fightin' words, cholo.
And just why does el presidente de mexico want his citizens to have U.S. driver's licenses. Isn't that how the 9/11 terrorists got into flight school? Is vicente osama's twin? Maybe it's time to do a background check on V.F. It's time we get our military mobilized vs. Mexico.
Just damn! That was uncalled for.
Excuse me, but could you clarify that? Has the U.S. State Dept., headed by a black woman, declined to comment on this quote from the president of mexico?
Anybody have an address for Vicente Fox? I'd love to send this to him. Actually, I'd love to say it to his face:
No merecen quedarse aquí.
Idiota.
Los CIUDADANOS de los Estados Unidos de America
So? The DUmmies are always bitching about not being able to find jobs. We can let them do it. It'll save the taxpayers billions in free handouts.
Think Mr.Fox! Think!! We have people right here who could use the exercise, so don't even try too spin this issue.
With all the terrorist and illegals coming across our borders every night in droves, that is why I am puzzled over so many base closures. Who is going to be left to defend America? Nothing makes sense to me with this.
Here is the driver's license you are talking about:
Where's the CIA when we need them !!
I never have understood why we kowtow to the wishes of Fox. Why?
The U.S. deliberately ignoring border security and the illegal alien invasion is A problem. BUT, Mexico will explode if they do not get their economy up and running, along with a democratic government. So, the way that Mexico is being governed is also the problem.
Talk about the potus having his head buried in the sand ...
Wow. Hey, Vic-racist much?
Yes. "Even the lowest life forms on the planet wouldn't do those jobs" - according to Mexican President Vicente Fox's opinion, anyway.
Maybe he heard the homosexuals saying "blacks are just like us" so they could demand civil rights to bugger each other? It doesn't get much lower than that.
Boy, the I feel sorry for the way blacks are being used these days for political gain.
This world never gets boring, that's for sure.
It really is creepy that we are closing so many military bases at this time. Is there a silent two-headed coup de etat going on?
