Kidnapped child's body found near Mexican border city

CIUDAD JUAREZ, Mexico- The body of a kidnapped 7-year-old girl has been found in a desert area near this border city, police said.

The secretary-general of the state government, Fernando Rodriguez, told reporters late Sunday that the body of Airis Estrella Rodriguez Pando was discovered shortly after midnight Sunday morning at a wood and cardboard shack about 20 miles south of Ciudad Juarez.

Juarez is across the border from El Paso, Texas.

Her parents had reported her missing on May 2.

State officials said evidence indicated the girl had been sexually molested and killed by blows to the head.

She had been placed in a barrel and covered with cement, police said.

Chihuahua state Attorney General Patricia Gonzalez said officials were asking for help from the FBI to investigate the case, but as of Monday, officials had given few details about the probe.

The girl's age tends to separate the case from more than 100 largely unsolved slayings of young women who were sexually assaulted, strangled and dumped in the desert.

This story needs to be kept circulating. It is my back yard and the sick person that did this needs to be caught. It is very possible that the person who committed this crime could be from our side of the border, meaning El Paso. Anyone that has a mind to should be praying that the Juarez Police and the FBI can find the perpetrator.

I have 11 grandchildren between the ages of 2 and 9 and they all live here. I would give anything to be able to get this person out in the desert alone.

That is interesting since so many around FR claim that is also true of the US.

I have friends that love going to mexico, and i always tell them to be careful, i don't know why people seem so interested in going to mexico yuck. I'll stay home and drink a margarita here without fear of getting screwed by the mexican government or their people.
