Newsweek Offices Protest Report (May, 16, 2005)
Newsweek Freep Action | May 16, 2006

Posted on 05/16/2005 4:30:59 PM PDT by TFine80

Well, we had our Protest at Newsweek offices led by the Tri-State Chapter. We only had a handful of people because we wanted to put the pressure on right away even on short notice, but we definitely achieved our objective. Depending on how the story develops, there may be need or demand for a further demonstration.

We had some great signs:

Newsweek Lied, People Died

Flush Newsweek!

There's Lies, Damn Lies, and then HOMICIDAL REPORTING! (I forget the exact wording)

and

And you still WONDER why they hate us!?!

We also had some cut-out bloody hands that we offered to Newsweek employees and to random people because 'Newsweek already has them'! And we chanted 'Newsweek Lied, People Died' from time to time.

You could easily see the fear and denial on the faces of some of the Newsweek employees. A few of the other workers in the building must have some gripe against Newsweek because a handful gave us thumbs-up. As usual, you could see the raw hatred and denial on the faces of many of our New Yorker liberal friends, but you could tell that even they could barely stomach this whopper.

We had a few photographers come by and it is possible that you may see us somewhere or another. Please flag firebrand if anyone sees anything!

Thank you to Firebrand and Doctor Raoul and StarFan for organizing the event so quickly! And God protect our troops who are being shot at because of Newsweek's idiocy and sedition.

Was the good doctor wearing his devil outfit or has he retired it?

But seriously, good job. What kind of reaction did you get from the passerbys on 57th St.?

I had the thought last night (listening to Drudge) that the time has come for a good old-fashioned "die-in" -- seventeen people dressed as Muslims gather in front of the Newsweek offices, then fall to the ground screaming (in front of the cameras of the rest of the media, of course).

Possibly even some civil disobedience in splashing the steps up to Newsweek's offices with fake (biodegradable, washable?) blood. (I didn't say that!)

I'm glad you reported on the attitude of the rank and file.

My local protest at the newspaper was a success because the average worker hated to be associated with the antiwar types. I guess you showed the same is true at NewsWeak.

Rank and file don't like to think their paycheck passed through bloody hands.

Great job.....

Use your right to free speech! Send an email to editors@newsweek.com
Tell the Newsweek scum what you think

I sent them an email... excerpt follows...

Newsweek magazine has sunk to new lows in the attacks on America by idiotic liberal media. Your false reporting on the Koran will create many more suicide bombers who will be attacking our soldiers in many locations, killing and
maiming many of them. There will be marines going to homes to tell relatives that their loves ones were killed in the Middle East.

You're absolutely right...

But it was also difficult to tell who was who... There are some other offices in the building. But you could usually tell who were the big-wigs at Newsweek because they would pretend not to look at the signs, even as they cringed. No one from Newsweek, even the lowest of the lowest, was willing to talk to us at all. Probably they all know their jobs are potentially on the line because of this.

Some follow up questions:

- Did you go to their Manhattan office?
- What was the reaction from them?
- Did you get any vets to show up?
- Did any local news people show up to report? Did you call them?
- Please post pictures if you have any.

Thanks!

Yes, Manhattan.

We had no reaction and no police or security. They tried to
ignore us.

We had a few vets who stopped to support us. I don't know if any of the people present were vets.

We had two photographers and one local news station, although I'm not certain what they did. Yes, I believe several stations were called.

I'm not sure about pictures. Perhaps you will see some in the media, but sadly we didn't have a camera.

The left has compiled up the "Bush lied, people died" list (which is culled at their own disgretion). We need a "Liberals Lied, People Died" list.

Nick Berg was murdered because of hoaxed "abuse" photos that circulated throughout the Eastern world including some internet porn photos depicting "soldiers" "raping" "Iraqi" "prisoners" and some leftist staged photos of a British soldier urinating on a "prisoner". Such outrageous exagerations of the abuse at Abu Ghrab led to an equally outrageous response.

There was a lefty who wrote figuratively that the US was "raping" Afghanistan and Iraq and it resulted in a translation in Pakistan saying that Americans were raping people in that region. The resulting riots killed a number of people and injured many more.

This Newsweek article is responsible for the deaths of 15 and many more injuries.

Heck, I'll even include the 2 officers who were murdered by Sgt. Akbar (the media is quite willing to blame their deaths on Bush and not a fifth column element of Islamofascists).

How about the people who died from the DC sniper duo who were shielded from capture when the word went out that it was some white guys in a white van? The roadblocks stopped the pair several times. Those deaths are the result of some people who had an agenda.

You're right; let's bombard Newsweek with emails!!!! Call for them to do an interview with Al Jazeera and explain exactly how they made this "mistake" of theirs. Here's an excerpt from the email I just sent:

I call upon your Editor in Chief to personally contact Al Jazeera and do an interview with them, explaining in detail how and why this reporting mistake was made, and apologizing for your magazine's lack of zeal in its search for truth. Afghanis will probably not believe the U.S. government when it denies (however correctly) that no such incident happened. However, if YOUR MAGAZINE makes it crystal-clear directly to the Afghan people that the report was a grievous mistake, the situation may still be salvaged.

No bullhorn. But you're right, the Doctor did have one in his trunk. You need five days' notice in NYC to use sound. Raoul's voice is such that a person could think there is a bullhorn nearby, though.

Newsweek may not do something as dramatic as that, but they will attempt to make a course correction. They will feel pressure from their space reps (the salesforce that sells ad space) and from the circulation managers.

Howard Fineman was on Imus this morning and I can't remember seeing anyone look so uncomfortable on TV since Geraldo opened an empty Al Capone safe on prime time.

The email letter to the editor I sent them -

300 Islamicists in Afghanistan want us to hand over those responsible for the Koran allegations. I say we give them you lot. You can explain yourselves and issue your half retractions to them, and see how understanding they are. US soldiers are through protecting the likes of you, and getting blood libels as their thanks.

FWIW.
