NBC and MSNBC that's who. And tonight, my jaw dropped open (again...) watching ol Chris matthews try to explain this one away. This one, which is going to take more American lives.
I think Washington Post owns them.
Isnt Eleanor Clift one of the editorialists?
On MSNBC right on KO's Countdown he and Craig Crawford are saying Newsweek was setup by the White House.
Correct.
That's what I thought, too. I wonder why MSNBC never mentions them as a "co-partner" in their network.
Again the MSM is admitting they were beaten up by their designated "world's dumbest leader".
"On MSNBC right on KO's Countdown he and Craig Crawford are saying Newsweek was setup by the White House."
You have got to be kidding...
If there was a setup then it was by the Pentagon. I wouldn't be surprised--Rope-A-Doping the left is like shooting fish in a barrel. The Pentagon official that looked over the story didn't deny anything, but more importantly he didn't confirm anything. He's got ample cover--"I never confirmed the story", and Newsweak is left swinging in the breeze. If I had the opportunity to hang the MSM by their own rope I'd take it in a heartbeat.
Oh boy, I'm waithing for Carl Rove to be blamed for Newsweek's accessory to murder charges.
It's Bush's fault.
Never walk toward a bucket of crap with blind hatred in your eyes. You might fall in it.
I usually check out the babes on the covers while purchasing my groceries. Who, in their right mind, would buy a leftist news rag that's a week old - or more?
Did you watch Hardball, before KO's show?
I knew that Chrissy would be heartbroken that Newsweek wouldn retract the story...but, what I did see made me furious.
First, he mentioned at the first of the show that NBC and Newsweek have an "intenet" agreement or somesuch...half-assed disclaimer.
Anyway, he had all libs of course, Robin Wright of NYT, some lib ex-CIA buy, I think, and this youngish looking guy (don't remember his name), that was supposed to be some kind of terrorism expert...
Well, Chrissy was clucking his tongue about the hoopla the article has caused and during some point in the conversatation that terrosism expert said something like, "using religious persecution never was a good thing to do, and as you can tell FROM THIS INCIDENT, using religious persecution has deadly consequences." That was a paraphrase, but it was enough for me---
The whole point is that this was a made up story, and Chris has this guy on talking about how wrong it is for the military to USE this religious persecution---Chris didn't correct him...
Instead, he turned to Robin Wright and asked her what she thought, and she gave a long explanation that back in 2003 there WAS a report that this happened and people HAD known, and blah, blah, blah---IOW, the whole show was a CYA for Newsweek!
Can't they be sued for libel or slander or something because of this remark? It's amazing that in this country a radio personality like Howard Stern can be sued for saying "shit", yet these "journalists" can say any outrageous lies they want and get away with it.
The FCC should start revoking licenses of places that are caught in traitorous lies.
I think the people at Newsweek responsible for this ought to be on a plane right now to go tell the mob/rioters/protestors in Afghanistan that they're the ones who screwed up and they're really, really sorry. I know it won't happen, but it would be nice if it did.
"On MSNBC right on KO's Countdown he and Craig Crawford are saying Newsweek was setup by the White House."
Seriously, you've got to be kidding. Was Karl Rove mentioned specifically?
Keith Olbermann really should add Art Bell as a co-host of his show---
Oh...it gets better.
They are owned by WaPost. They are featured by MSNBC/NBC news web sites.
Add to that....NY Times who works quite a bit with the WAPost.....
It is easy to see how they all run the same hit pieces on conservatives.
They all work together to push a liberal agenda.
I'm expecting a major media effort to assert that the story is really true, even though it's been retracted.
Please publish the list here and please ping me when you finish the list.
remove the "not" in my last post.
After all, the White House did get OBL to make that video right before the election, so of course they got Isikoff to make this false charge.
Don't forget this trick that BS-NBC/Newsspeak played on the American people.
Have they done this with ANY other poll results?

Follow the "Editor's Note: This week, the online version of the Newsweek poll received an unusually high rate of response, with the clear majority of participants casting uniform votes. For these reasons, we believe the poll is being intentionally manipulated. In addition, we received an e-mail alert suggesting that the campaign is being coordinated by at least one special-interest group." link:

Treason is a crime. Let them swing like Lord Haw Haw.
It is mind boggling.....but the fact is we are winning....more and more American's are starting to see completely through the MSM (and the MSM continues to whistle by the grave yard and act like it isn't happening....but it is!!).
Unless she's moved in the last week or so, Robin Wright is with the Washington Post - the owners of Newsweek. She came to the WAPO from the LA Slimes in the past year. She fits right in with the WAPO bunch - Dana Priest, Dana Milbank, Ceci Connelly, etc., etc.. Liberal pukes all.
Exactly. As Cronkite revealed that Rove set up Bin Laden.
Because truth trumps fiction.
Maybe someone here can enlighten me. It appears obvious that whether or not Newsweek's folks got the story RIGHT (viz., one or more interrogator "dissing" the Koran), Newsweek--once allied or American deaths were linked to that line in the story--would have little choice about whether or not to retract. No retraction, more deaths (not that a simple retraction is going to halt the violence on the same issue, but NW could conveniently wash its hands after the retraction). And tho it's clear that some "journalists" don't mind bloody hands, allowing the violence to continue or spread based on their "report" would, one would think, expose them to enormous pressure from readers and other publishers.
For argument's sake, tho, suppose the allegation was false. Why did DOD fail to notice the line and challenge Newsweek IMMEDIATELY through other channels instead of waiting for the deaths to mount?
Is it possible that no one (DOD, various media, including NW) here believed that the mere mention of "desecration" of a book could cause such havoc? And having learned that it DID, why were "we" unanimous in blaming NW rather than the rioters?
That is what Hardball was all about tonight---trying to insinuate that there really was a story---even though there wasn't---
Chris is looking like Dan Rather still saying that those documents, though fakes, are real....??????
Sorry---I misremembered what paper she wrote for---but she is still a shill for the libs....
If the Pentagon spokesman had any comment like, "That's a damn lie," or "Your source is full of (bleep)," then Newsweak would have cried censorship or strongarming by the Pentagon.
In any event, I'm not surprised that many left/libs are blaming it on the Bush administration somehow.
NBC Nightly News spun this as the fault of the Pentagon, for not originally telling Islamikoff that the story was false.
Or maybe they'll say something like, "Though we do not have indisputable evidence to prove this particular instance - it could be true."
Seems to me that the father of the editor of Newsweek ran for president on either the Socialist or the Communist ticket.
I'll have to look back through some old notes to confirm that...
Hope we can get just some, of that list of advertizers. I know we're all experiencing that "letdown" after the election, and we're busy and tired, but I wonder if we should start emailing the MSM stations and anything related to them and tell them a thing or two.....
You're right on every count here; but I'm not talking about *us*. I'm talking about the absence of a single line from DOD or the media in this country placing even PARTIAL blame on the Muslim agitators.
But it's worse than that: I'm also talking about Newsweek's craven apology. It didn't apologize for starting riots that resulted in lost lives (which in fact it did); it apologized for misreporting, getting the facts wrong--as if their sole responsibility were getting the words right, as if yelling "fire" in a crowded theatre were protected! And no one, including Defense, is stooping to blame Newsweek OR the Muslims for the greater crime. I guess I'm just fed up with all the gracious-winner diplomacy we've been extending.
;-)

****
Just needed repeated. Thanks.
LOL. And don't forget how Karl Rove fooled the media with the "captured" action figure "Cody".
;-)
Evan Thomas ---- it was his grandfather, and he was one of the co-founders of the ACLU! UGH!
And since the White House didn't comment on Rather's fake documents that meant the docs were authentic, riiigghhtttt!!!
Who is his grandson?
"socialist, social reformer". He helped found the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) and was a frequent candidate for political office including presidential candidate, 1928-48.
