That was the basis of his [unfortunately] successful election campaign. His opponent was a black jew (she is also an horrendously Blairite toady, but infinitely preferable to Galloway), and he knew that he could exploit the racial/ethnic tensions within the constituency - one of the most grotesque events in British politics to my mind.
