Salam Al-Marayati, executive director of the Muslim Public Affairs Council, said his orginization wants a public apology and investigation from Amazon.com, as well as the firing of those responsible for mailing the desecrated book. He would also like Amazon.com to fund educational programs that foster religious tolerance. I really get sick of their whining! It seems like they are in the news every day crying about something and demanding an apology, or whatever it is they have been 'wronged' over. The thing that concerns me is that Americans keep giving into them. I wonder if Jesse Jackasson and Vicente Fox are going to be able to handle the competition!!

When you buy a used book through Amazon, you are purchasing from an individual, not Amazon. You can sell used and new items similar to Ebay, except there is no bidding.
This is another ridiculous claim.

Idiot. Amazon should tell Salam that those responsible for marking the book DON'T WORK FOR AMAZON.

Personally, I can't think of anyone more likely to fake a "hate crime" than a foreign, Muslim, female, university graduate student in an identity-politics department. The female factor generates unquestioning acceptance of outrageous claims by the media, and all the other factors point up to institutions and subcultures that regularly distort or destroy truth in the pursuit of poitical aims.Well said.

Amazon should create a special section called "Charmin Books" ... titles that are voted by customers as having special flushable qualities.

Now, what good muslim would order a used copy of the Koran, anyway? One who is trying to perpetuate a scam. She had to say it was used. If she bought it new, she would have to blame the publisher and/or name said publisher in any future lawsuit. And who would the publisher be? Very likely another Muslim. No. It had to be a used book. For there is no other way to pin this on an eeeevil American-Muslim-hater.

She should tell someone who CAIRs...
CAIR's Hate Crimes Nonsense
Of twenty anti-Muslim hate crimes in 2004 that CAIR describes, at least six are invalid and further research could likely find problems with the other fourteen instances. ..."

I've bought used items from Amazon.com. Bought some VHS tapes once of films(s) that weren't on DVD yet. Got the tapes and they were second generation copies from tv.
Not even a copy of the original tapes from Sony/Columbia Pictures.
To me, cinema is like a religion of sorts..should I get a story written for me to make me a victim?

There are so many fake hate crimes that I can't help but assume this is fake unless proven otherwise. The two characeristics to look for are 1. Political benefit 2. No serious physical injury. Usually when those two go together, it's a fake hate crime.

I'm still trying to figure out why a certain subset gets so upset they get physically ill when someone does something to A FREAKIN' BOOK.
Don't get me wrong. I adore my Riverside Shakespeare, my Dore Bible is the pride of my bookcase, and if I caught anyone defacing my Macaulay, violence would follow quickly and harshly.
But for God's sake, they're JUST BOOKS. The worst thing they can do is fall on my foot, or perhaps harbor silverfish.
Oh, yeah, and the ornately bound ones collect dust that's hell to get out of the binding clasps.
