LA's Mexican Mayor
JewishWorldReview ^ | May 20, 2005 | Greg Crosby

you thought the floodgates for illegal immigrants were wide open in Los Angeles up until now, hold on to your sombrero. Now that Antonio Villaraigosa has been elected mayor you ain't seen nothin' yet. The guy who was Chairman of the UCLA chapter of MEChA, the anti-American and anti-Israel Mexican separatist group; the guy with the "born to raise hell" tattoo; the guy who was past district president of the ACLU; the guy who rewards illegal aliens with Matricula Consular IDs; the guy who wants to give illegal aliens driver's licenses; the guy who supports Special Order 40, the regulation that will not allow local police to turn over illegal alien criminals to the Feds, will now be in charge of the second largest city in the nation. Well done, voters of Los Angeles!

Mexican President Vicente Fox really has a compadre in the City of Angels now. Villaraigosa has virtually the same take on Mexican illegal immigration that Fox has. Fox, who has repeatedly refused to back away from his racist remark saying that Mexican immigrants take jobs "not even" blacks want in the United States, has never had a problem with illegal immigration from Mexico to the United States — matter of fact, he has encouraged it.

"Arm yourself, the battle will rage."

The government is complicit in this. Arm yourself, yes. But defend yourself?! You will be permitted to do this one time. You can save your family, and the government will come and put you in jail.

We are defenseless, armed or not.

"I'll guarantee you that the next election cycle for president will be all about immigration. Anyone who isn't hard core about fixing it will not have a prayer of getting elected."

Promises. GWB promised to secure the borders. Hillary will make the same promise. I see nothing on the horizon that convinces me anyone will do anything, or gives a darn.

"By then we will have broken the Judiciary from the liberal grasp and liberalism will be on the run."

That would be that Heroic Republican majority in Congress that's now cowering and capitualting to the Democratic minority?

The Republicans have squandered their political capital. The Democrats will make gains in '06. Any chance of Democrats taking action against millions upon millions of new Democratic voters?

We are screwed.

Well, I want to be as optimistic as I can. Practicing 24/7 defeatism will bring more of it. (Not you, just in general)

At the same time, use your imagination and picture a time not too far in the future when the border has been removed and the U.S is around 50% Mexican/Spanish and they start making demands on us to get in line with their agenda's not ours.

Civil War? Maybe...

Since about a year ago, I call southern California "Northern Mexico."

Too bad, because I would like to live in Carlsbad...

Villaraigosa has repudiated his Mecha past. He is still a liberal, certainly, but he is today no more leftist or pro-illegal immigrant than the man he defeated (Jim Hahn) or the man Hahn replaced in office (Republican Richard Riordan). Riordan (who is in Gov. Schwartzenegger's cabinet), in fact endorsed Villaraigosa in this election.

Re: #66. Thanks for injecting reason into this discussion.

I really don't think Tony Villagaroisa is going to live up to the racial paranoia many Freepers seem to have about Chicanos (puts on flame-retardent suit). Besides, LA's office of the Mayor is probably the weakest of any large city in America. His capacity to be a Mexican-American Coleman Young is therefore limited if he chose to go that route.

Jim Hahn was a corrupt liberal crook. Just because he was a gringo (like me) doesn't mean he didn't deserve to lose.

There aren't that many "Spanish" people in the USA. Your average Spaniard, even those that are lefties (Zapatero being the exception) have more class in their little finger than many Americans, let alone Mexicans.

Are you saying Americans have no class? Wow, that's a disturbing but completely untrue.

NO! Many, if not most of us do have class. We have our share of fat Wal-Martian wife beaters, project-dwelling skells and druggies, but you find those in every society on earth. They should not be pitied or idealized either.

Americans are the most productive, most innovative and prosperous people in the world.

My remark was simply meant to distinguish Spaniards from Mexicans, which is not too difficult to do as they don't even look alike.

"Civil War? Maybe..."

Nope. The backbone extraction of the majority of the populace of the USA is nearly complete. Once the Mexicans outnumber us, they will simply have things their way.
At that point it will be the will of the people.

There is a difference, I agree.

I think I know what you're trying to say, and yes every society has the less that desirable in the mix.

I hope things turn around over there in the fight against terrorism, I think they got scared and traumatized by the train bombing which decided the election.

I live in Ohio, too, and it will affect us, too, if it hasn't already. I don't know where you live, but here in Cincinnati, Hispanics are everywhere. Just look around. MexOhio?

"Civil War? Maybe..."

Alright, I've worked myself into quite a funk on a Friday, what a bad idea!
Before I shrug this off, let me bounce something off the crowd that I've been thinking about.

Start with the premise that PC is the root of much of our countries' current difficulties. PC -> Multiculturalism -> Bi lingualism -> Separatism -> Tolerance to the point of intolerance.

I blame 2 major factors. Hippies, and women in the workplace. Hippies, that's the easy one. They hated "the man", the "establishment". And now that they are the man, they are the establishment, they hate themselves. They hate the military, they hate religion. PC is their way to punish all that they hate. And it's a great tool for them. It seems to be working quite well.
Now, to women in the workplace. This one's not so obvious. I've had several career type positons in my life. The place I work at, I came to a few years ago, and it was quite a culture shock. This place is dominated by women. Now, since it's dominated by women, the corporate culture is quite different than what I'm used to. In other jobs, you did your job, worked hard, and if you saw someone slacking, not contributing, you gave them heck. At this place, the most important thing you can do is be nice. If you are incompetent, but nice, they will find someone to help you do your job. If you are competent, but surly, you won't last long. I thought about this, and realized, in male dominated workplaces, conflicts are resolved quicker. It's easier to chew someone out and move on. With women in the equation, there is a neutering effect. Don't brusie feelings. Don't berate incompetence. And it equates very well to PC. Let's be nice, let's appease and capitulate.
I may be way off, but it's something I've been kicking around, and I'm airing it out.

It has, and it will. My first comment was sort of tongue in cheek. It won't affect us as dramatically, as quickly, but the United States of Mexico is coming.
