Skip to comments.Filibuster flap shows GOP hypocrisy (Here, kitty kitty! Blackened fish!)

Regarding "Filibuster's traditional use is ignored" (Letters, Wednesday):
The writer said the filibuster has never been used before to block a judicial nominee. The truth is that during the Clinton administration, 60 judicial nominees were blocked by Republicans, using means including the filibuster. In fact, Bill Frist even joined in the filibuster of 9th Circuit nominee Richard Paez.
Also, Democrats have approved more than 200 of President Bush's judicial nominees while only 10 have been blocked. For Republicans to make such a big deal over those 10 nominations while they blocked 60 of Clinton's nominees is extremely misleading and hypocritical.
It would also be in their best interest to preserve the filibuster, since they will be in the minority someday and I'm sure they will wish they had.
Sooooooooo, whaddaya think of that?
ZOT! Go away troll boy.
Here kitty, kitty, kitty.
Um, wrong. But you know that.
The kitties have some gutting to do!!!
I think deep down the democrats are trying to mask their racism and disdain for the original intent for the Constitution.
>>> The truth is that during the Clinton administration, 60 judicial nominees were blocked by Republicans, using means including the filibuster. <<<
The truth is you have never told the truth in your life. You are a liberal, after all.
Using the number of nominees that Clinton pulled because of opposition by his own party, I see.
This must be what is called creative accounting.
Not gonna happen
58 Republican Senators in '06
61 Republican Senators in '08
Too bad for you... ZOT
well its the same accounting that the other idiot used last weekend when he said there were 211,000 American deaths in Vietnam....which would equate to about 14 million for World War 2 and about 10 million for World War 1.
Its LIBERAL accounting :)
The issue is also wether or not the nominees would be approved by the full senate. I am not sure about the nominee cited in the Clinton years, but these ten would all have been approved by the full sentate. In essence, the Demos, for political purposes, are blocking the ability for the Senate to fulfill its constitutional duty to advise and consent...keeping the other Senators from being able to consent.
But my guess is that the individual who wrote this letter understands this and is coloring the issue their way.
Prepare to be gutted in earnest, TrollTrash!

The Mods have been kind enough to not ban you.
How about responding to some of the replies?
Gee, I wonder why.
The solution is easy troll-boy. Just say no to the judicial filibuster. Give the majority an up or down vote. Try it you'll like it. Hey Boo-boo you lost the election. Get over it.
Did I make it before the ZOT??
I hadn't seen last week's creative accounting :-)
Maybe it's the same person?
Please post the source for this ludicrous and fact-free claim. Or admit you made it up.
very possibly :)
Mods need to keep this moron around for a while, so the cats can play. He/she/it is such a great laugh.
Do you have a link to the 'letter to the editor'? Or at least tell us where this letter appeared...
On second thought why not just STFU!
That was about the same time that Clinton made all his "politcal appointees" full time government employees -- you know, the ones doing all the leaking to the press now.
As far as Republicans being in the minority again? Not in your life time. ;)
It's bunk. The ONE Clinton filibusters for Republicans broke after they had their say. Dems can filibuster for extra debate but not forever.
And the issue isn't all judge nomineees, it's apellate court nominees and the filibuster is unprecedented. They have have stopped 10 of 34 nominees. All of the nominees stopped have outstanding records and are recommended by the ABA.
The Democrats are taking down the filibuster all by themselves. They can stop the nuclear option by voting for cloture on Tuesday.
Squealers are the tastiest catfish. Especially when fried.
Every single troll is an ENEMY OF THE REPUBLIC!
11 Megaton surgical ZOT! Nuclear marksmanship at its best!
And I was waiting for a bunny....with a pancake....on its head.
Just how many microseconds would it have taken for the Democrat majority to have implemented the "Nuclear Option" to pound down a recalcitrant Republican minority?
In the MSM, it would have been another, "Nothing to see here. Move along." day.

I got the article from the Seattle Times:
yep pretty much.....
This guy has been blasted off of this site for now. This tripe is getting a bit old and does really show the left's desperation....
Over 40 replies to your thread and almost 600 views.
Still no response from you.
Wassup with that?
Probebly to see how the troll responds. IF it responds.
I have sensed a great disturbance in the force. As if millions of DUmmies suddenly cried out whining and were completely dumbfounded.
No Justice, No Paez

Last Thursday, the U.S. Senate confirmed Richard Paez, a federal district court judge, for a promotion to the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. The Friday Los Angeles Times plays this event as a long-overdue ethnic triumph in the face of Republican obstructionism.
Under the headlines "Wait Is Over as Paez Wins Judicial Post" and "Paez Is Finally Confirmed," reporter Richard Simon tells us in his first sentence that Paez had won "after enduring a record 1,506-day wait." In the second paragraph we learn that Vice President Gore suspended his presidential campaign so he could be ready to cast the deciding vote in favor of Paez. In the third paragraph we're told 14 Republicans "broke with Senate Majority Leader Trent Lott (R.-Miss.)" to confirm Paez. In the fourth paragraph Gore is quoted, in Spanish, saying " 'Amigos, hoy finalmente hemos logrado justicia.' ('Friends, today we've finally achieved justice.')" The fifth paragraph begins

The first judicial nominee to be the target of partisan filibuster was Miguel Estrada.
Gutted catfish = lobotomized DUmmie
I love the smell of ZOT smoke in the morning!!
Sorry but facts and reality matter - First off, the "60" judicial nominees were stopped in "committee" where the laws of the Senate allow for this (this has happened throughout our history) - and none of these judges would have passed on the Senate floor with a majority of the vote (which all of GWB judges would)
Additionally Richard Paez received a "closure" vote! - He was not filibustered!! (because a majority of the Senate...REPUBLICANS included broke off any delay and demanded a "closure" vote for Mr. Paez!...which he received) - Yet these same Democrats now stand in the way of GWB nominee's from getting this same closure vote!
Furthermore GWB has the lowest % of nominated judges confirmed since WWII. He is at 53%!! Jimmy Carter was at 98%, Clinton was in the 80%'s.
There has never in our history been a Judaical nominee filibustered who would gather a majority of the votes on the FULL Senate floor. These are the facts....deal with them!
It is the Democrats (like always) that hate the truth and have to try and spin reality when it doesn't fit their needs.
