Abortion Encouraged in Ukraine as Unborn Babies Used for Russian Beauty Treatments
lifesite ^ | May 24, 2005

KIEV, May 24, 2005 (LifeSiteNews.com) – A UK Observer exclusive has revealed that the trafficking of unborn baby body tissues for use as “beauty” treatments in Russia is a booming trade. The unborn children are purchased from Ukrainian women – some of whom are also ‘duped’ by racketeering doctors who convince the women that the unborn baby is defective and needs to be aborted – thereafter selling the aborted child. The babies are cryogenically frozen and advertised as providing “youth injections” claimed to reverse aging and cure many diseases.

An older baby is worth even more, as beauty spa workers are convinced that the so-called age-reducing effect is more plentiful in the older child. “When a doctor wants a foetus [to sell], he tells a girl there is a medical reason for an abortion later than 12 weeks,” said Sergei Shorobogatko, a Kiev policeman investigating the illegal trade. “A special procedure extracts it with the placenta.”

Women there fetch, on average, $180 USD per unborn child, but can make even more if they wait beyond the legal 12-weeks before aborting the child. A middleman cuts the child into separate organs before selling the child, whose sale can exceed $9,000 USD. The “beauty” treatments cost over $18,000. The fetuses are not tested for possible infection like HIV, Shorobogatko warned.

Last week, a Russian border patrol confiscated 25 unborn babies frozen and hidden in two vacuum flasks carried by a man, who said he purchased them from a medical research facility.

Ukraine law allows the use of aborted foetal tissue for use in medical research, with the mother’s permission. Many of these so-called donations in fact turn out to be a way for the government clinics to make a profit by selling the baby for illegal treatments. “It is extremely difficult to detect this because there are corrupt agreements between respected doctors and academics,” said a senior Kiev police officer.

Beauty salons fuel trade in aborted babies

Racketeers pay Ukraine women to sell foetuses to quack clinics for £10,000 courses of 'anti-ageing' jabs

Tom Parfitt in Kiev Sunday April 17, 2005 The Observer

Aborted foetuses from girls and young women are being exported from Ukraine for use in illegal beauty treatments costing thousands of pounds, The Observer can reveal.

The foetuses are cryogenically frozen and sold to clinics offering 'youth injections', claiming to rejuvenate skin and cure a raft of diseases.

It is thought that women in the former Soviet republic are being paid £100 a time to persuade them to have abortions and allow their foetuses to be used in treatments. Most of the foetuses are sold in Russia for up to £5,000 each. Some are paid extra to have abortions late in their pregnancy.

Border guards stopped a train entering Russia from Ukraine last week and arrested a 'mule' carrying 25 frozen foetuses hidden in two vacuum flasks. The man said he had bought them from a medical research centre.

Ukrainian law allows an aborted human foetus to be passed to research institutes if the woman involved consents and her anonymity is protected. But police say staff at state health institutions are selling them to private clinics offering illegal therapy.

'It is extremely difficult to detect this because there are corrupt agreements between respected doctors and academics,' said one senior officer.

Beauty salons in Moscow that buy the aborted material to provide 'foetal therapy' are flourishing, despite a Russian ban on all commercial treatments using human cells other than bone marrow. The salons offer injections of stem cells, the undivided cells present in embryos that can adapt into any kind of tissue, although they are still at the trial stage worldwide.

Sergei Shorobogatko, a former Kiev policeman who is investigating the trade, said abortion clinics in the poor eastern regions of Donetsk and Kharkiv are selling foetuses - often untested for viruses such as Aids - without permission.

Abortions performed more than 12 weeks into a pregnancy are restricted in Ukraine. Older foetuses fetch extra because their curative powers are thought to be greater.

'When a doctor wants a foetus [to sell], he tells a girl there is a medical reason for an abortion later than 12 weeks,' said Shorobogatko. 'A special procedure extracts it with the placenta.'

The woman would be paid to wait until a late stage of her pregnancy, or might never even know she was duped, he said. Her aborted foetus would be passed to a middle-man or institution, which would cut it into separate organs before placing these in storage. The material was then sold and taken abroad.

Beauty courses of injections using blends of foetal cells are banned in Ukraine and Russia, but they are widely available in salons that charge up to £10,000. Wealthy clients are told the treatment can stop the ageing process, or eliminate such debilitating conditions as Parkinson's disease or Alzheimer's. One fashionable Moscow clinic approached by The Observer promised to 'take 10 years off your face'.

'We are talking about a huge, corrupt and dangerous trade in quack therapies,' said Professor Vladimir Smirnov, director of the city's Institute of Experimental Cardiology. Outside state institutes, Russian law allows only extraction and storage of human cells, but enforcement is lax.

Earlier this month the Ministry of Health announced that 37 out of 41 clinics offering stem-cell treatments in Moscow were acting illegally. Yet most continue to operate. 'What is unclear is what people are injected with,' said Dr Stephen Minger, of King's College, London. 'Are they really stem cells or a mixture of tissues?'

Ukrainians, accustomed to tales of illegal privatisations and government corruption, are not surprised. 'They used to say we were selling Ukraine,' said one reporter. 'Now we are selling Ukrainians; moreover, in parts.'

About 80 yrs ago there was another similar (but lower-tech) craze about 'youth elixirs' in the form of hormonal extracts, which were obtained from slaughterhouses [I myself saw promotional materials for those quack treatments when doing a research project on early soviet newspapers of 1920's].
As Voltaire said, the more the things change, the more they remain the same.
But it is pleasing to see that a fool and his/her money still cannot form a lasting attachment.

Did someone from Pootie's Office of Disinformation fax this article to the Observer? And, when can we expect the invasion?

This is not realistic. My very first girlfriend at 16 was a cute, chubby, blond Ukie girl. We were smart and sneaky. Her Orthodox folks were friends with my Catholic folks and if they figured out what we were doing, our asses would be bright red quickly. It has remained a secret:):) She has a family now with another man. That's fine. I'm 3000 miles away and won't return anytime soon. I like the guy
she married, actually.

Abortions in Russia are illegal after 12 weeks and there is a major push by the Church and the conservatives to ban them outright, backed by Putin. All part of the vast left wing conspiracy, like his Christian curriculums in schools and the military.

You know in the USA a baby can be aborted/KILLED right up to the delivery date. To my sorrow... Partial birth abortions happen quite often here in the USA.

I was most pleased when my Russian Baptist friends told me not long ago that in Russia .... PARTIAL BIRTH ABORTION IS ILLEGAL AND CONSIDERED MURDER.

Now, if the USA would only pass such a law!

Oh, darn.... all the leftists in the USA would NEVER allow that, now would they.

Perhaps we could get some advice from the RUSSIANS on just how to pass such a law here.

In France, for many years, the hormone replacement pill for women in menopause was made from human placentas not from pregnant horse urine like in the USA. Premarin was the name of the pill.

Name was formed like so: Pre ( pregnant) mar (mare) in ( urine).

The US congress passed a PBA ban law & President Bush signed it into law. The law has been challenged in the courts which is the usual situation with controversial issues. Like it or not, that is how the system works and that is the was the Founding Fathers designed it to work.

Section 2; Clause 1: The judicial Power shall extend to all Cases, in Law and Equity, arising under this Constitution, the Laws of the United States, and Treaties made, or which shall be made, under their Authority;--to all Cases affecting Ambassadors, other public Ministers and Consuls;--to all Cases of admiralty and maritime Jurisdiction;--to Controversies to which the United States shall be a Party;--to Controversies between two or more States;--between a State and Citizens of another State; (See Note 10)--between Citizens of different States, --between Citizens of the same State claiming Lands under Grants of different States, and between a State, or the Citizens thereof, and foreign States, Citizens or Subjects.

I'll take a pass on 'Russian advice.'

A government resolution on abortion, approved last month [August 2003], is the first restriction of any kind on the practice since a ban imposed by Stalin was lifted in 1955....

Sorry to have bothered you with my concerns that infant murder SHOULD BE ILLEGAL IN THE USA.

Yes, I know how our systems works. I just cannot imagine why making the MURDER of a baby should so controversial in our own country!!! Oh, well... it must be all those leftists we have running around the USA now and complaining about Christians trying to stop baby murder.

Too bad the courts are so leftist as well... they probably decide, of course, to dump the laws to stop partial birth murder which were passed by Congress and signed by PRES. Bush.

At least some babies in Russia will not be aborted/murdered in late term and ripped to shreds. And, that is a good thing!!

Our Russian Baptist pastor friend offers a counseling service for the gals in his town who find themselves in a "family way" and do not see anyway to continue their life with the repsonsiblities of a child. He and his wife and daughter tell me they have had good things happen as a result. Of course, they admit not all is perfect. They try to help and this is a good thing!

I like his positive and kind ways. Our family has made donations to his Church when he has visited here in the past couple of years.

Of couse, Russia has problems. Look what they have had to overcome and yet to overcome completely.... godless commies! I have great hope for ALL the efforts that Christians and Jews are making in Russia, to assist in creating a Russia which is a better place to live and a more peaceful country among the world of nations.

Unlike France for which, I admit, that I have found to be, JUST ABOUT HOPELESS!!

LOL!

Gee, the press is finally catching up! As it says clearly in the Book of Judges: 'And in thos days there was no King in Israel, so everyman did what was right in his own eyes'. As I understand it (I don't know a whole lot about foreign cosmetics), there are cosemtics being sold in the US that are using fetal tissues for production.

If a pregnant female goes into a 'clinic' that does late term abortions and sells the slaughtered infant to the fetal tissue harvesting industry, the female will be 'guided' --if she's not but a couple of months along in the pregnancy-- to wait until the fourth or fifth month ... the killing is less likely to dismember the baby and produces more intact cadavers for the harvesting ghouls. This has been documented and has been going on in states like NC and Nebraska for some time now. This is not an urban legend.

In the case of PBA, the appeal ended up with Congress making a law to ban it which then passed the ball back to the courts.

Another item that Ukrainians have to deal with:

UKRAINIAN POLICE SAY CHILD VICTIMS OF SEX TRADE SOARING

By Natasha Lisova, AP Worldstream
Associated Press (AP), Kiev, Ukraine, Tue, May 24, 2005

KIEV - The number of Ukrainian minors who have become victims of
commercial sexual exploitation soared this year, an official said Tuesday.

More than 2,000 Ukrainian children and teenagers have become victims
of the sex trade so far this year, a 60-percent increase compared with the
same period last year, said Mikhaylo Tsymbaliuk, a top Interior Ministry
official. "It is a big tragedy for the state," Tsymbaliuk said at a news
conference in Kiev.

The Interior Ministry announced earlier this year that combating human
trafficking and commercial sexual exploitation of children would a key
priority. It also recently formed a special department tasked with combating
human trafficking.

A majority of minors abused by criminals in this former Soviet republic had
been forced into the sex tourist industry, child pornography and
prostitution, Tsymbaliuk said. "Criminals are making big money from this."

In a report published earlier this year, police researchers claimed that
some 20 percent of all Ukrainian prostitutes were teenage girls. They also
indicated that 18 percent of homeless children in Ukraine usually became
victims of sexual violence. "A mere 10 percent of the runaway children's
families are actually trying to find their kids," the document said.

Making the illicit industry more difficult to combat, Tsymbalik said, "the
commercial sexual exploitation of children often remains unreported
because victims are either scared or intimidated."

Also Tuesday, La Strada, a key international watchdog that fights
trafficking of women, claimed that some 8,000 children fell victim to sex
exploitation in Ukraine last year. According to the International
Organization for Migration, an U.N.-run body, 10 percent of all trafficking
victims who return to Ukraine are aged between 12 and 18.

Ukraine gained notoriety as a key starting and transit point for human
trafficking because of its porous borders and poor bilateral agreements on
borders crossing with neighboring Russia, Moldova and Belarus. The
European Union and the Organization for Security and Cooperation in
Europe [OSCE] have pledged to help Ukrainian police and border guards
to improve their effectiveness.

an U.N.-run body >>

the UN was part of a big pedophile scandal in Belgium a few yrs. ago, they have a lot of nerve commenting on this subject. Why are so many kids homeless?

Unfortunately it is not urban legend.

My wife is a former OB-GYN from Europe and now practices medicine as a US citizen here in the USA after repeating medical school and residency training.

She will not do abortions and in fact she no longer delivers children in the USA because of malpractice liability. She was ordered by her hospital in Europe to perform abortions else lose her position.

But she would not do abortions because it is immoral and because of the industry that it spawned in her former country.

She witnessed first hand how a certain German company sends vans to abortion clinics to load bags of aborted fetal tissue. The same vans also stop at maternity hospitals to load up placental tissue. This German Company sells both tissues to other companies that produce skincare products. Such products are labelled as having 'active anti-aging' ingredients.

"As terrible as this sounds, and as pro-life as I am, this smells like an urban legend, or at least not nearly as prolific as implied."

I hate to believe this could be happening, too, but it's not so far fetched when we have partial-birth infanticide in our own country.
