I think that making false statements to a police officer is a felony. Filing a false report is a misdemeanor.

She should be charged. I don't understand the jurisdiction regarding some of the charges though. How is it that the GA have jurisdiction when she made the calls in a different state? Did she say the same thing to the GA authorities that she had said in her initial calls? Is it because both jurisdictions had resources looking for her?

So... is the wedding still on?

Wilbanks was indicted on one count of making false statements, a felony, and one count of falsely reporting a crime, a misdemeanor, the district attorney said.

The penalty for the felony charge is 1 to 5 years behind bars; the misdemeanor carries a sentence of up to 12 months in confinement, according to Porter.

What about the crime of an ridiculously expensive wedding?

Being on the service end of "ridiculously expensive" weddings. The money goes to people who work hard for it, but enjoy being part of something big too.

I think this is a waste of money. Murderers only get a few years these days and this show trial will cost the taxpayer tens of millions.
