Who would replace McCain, a Democrat?

So be it. He's a cancer in the pubbie party. In any organization these people should be expelled. They do it in business, in sports etc. Where is any accountability? If there is ever a chance to change things it is this opportunity & if you fail to make these jerks pay a price forget any concervative a agenda to develope for decades. I would also go after Frist. He better put these other judges up for confirmation or else he can go. You know what would happen if the dems were in charge.

I agree with you.

They should do it.

But too many of them are defective physically - no spinal chord, no guts, no gonads.

I am not upset by this deal, except for the betrayal of the 7 idiots. I am sure that part of the agreement is unconstitutional, they cannot amend the constitution with 14 votes, which they tried to do by claiming Bush now has to consult them before he nominates anyone. This part I hold is unconstitutional, the rest of it is simply blow hards trying to grab power and I don't think it will work. I have not given up on the party because there is nothing better out there. I think we will get all of our judicial nominees up for a vote but I am not sure if they will be confirmed. Don't trust those 7 RiNOS at all.

I know what you mean about not handing the other side a victory they otherwise couldn't win on their own.

Let's hope prospects for 2008 are much better (in terms of a field of candidates) than they do now.

Lindsey Graham R-SC is so disappointing. He was so polished and well-spoken in the impeachment hearings. It seemed like SC senate representation would have gravitas. Something happened and now he too has been comprimised by some blackmailing of his misdeeds. Burn baby burn.

Not just one self serving move to grab power, but his aborted primary run in 2000 when he dissed conservatives and the Southern states. ( A little vague here I know. I don't have his campaign quotes handy)

Agree...and for me, McCain is the Rhino of all Rhinos (to go along with Olympia Snow).

But the discipline should be handled "in house," with as little media attention as possible (good luck, there). We don't need another third party Perot taking conservative votes away in 08...we could wind up with another Clinton...Ugh.

That CFR thing didn't work out so well. And he's always pulling that Hamlet act. It grows tiresome.

I'm not one of the people talking about bolting the party over this. The Party is fine. We've just got a few wayward Senators who can't seem to recall what the last election was about, and what the result was.

I'm not getting the whole "victory for conservatives" meme.

Oh sure, this thing could work out in the end. The Donks aren't the brightest bag of hammers.

This wouldn't even be an issue if just two of our Knights of the Garter gave a rip about the President's agenda.

I'm so thrilled that, as one persistent poster insists on reminding me, one of the nominees got the nod today. Hey that's great.

Now, despite 55 GOP Senators, we needed a cockamamee deal just to get three perfectly routine court nominees onto the floor of the Senate. What happened to the other seven nominees? Thank you for playing, heres a "victory for conservatives" as your parting gift?

That's just shabby.

Politics isn't like business...McCain seems to be an extreme (and maybe a bad example for me to use) but throwing all 7 out would give the repubs 48 seats...not even a majority...

Its not like these guys vote the worng way everytime (especially Grahm).

I have told the RNC that they'll not get a cent of my money, and have told my GOP representation (two Senators and my district Rep) that the GOP won't get a single vote from my family, until this filibuster travesty is corrected.

Understand this to all. These pols don't give a rat about your little contribution. Their money comes from lobbyist & thru large business contributions ie thru elitists. Disrupt their lunches & vacations etc & then you will get action. Start a voluntary recall. that's for starters. Just my 2 cents worth.

Just for starters.

Do a search, you'll get it after a few threads.

They could vote....and debate. R's couldn't rely on 4 of them anyway. Snowe, Collins, McCain, and Cahffee are as likely to vote with democrats as vote with republicans and always have. It now has been proven for all to see that the rest of the gang of weasles can't be counted on either. Would you be at ease knowing that, say Senator Warner has the deciding vote on a Supreme Court nomination?....I didn't think so.

What do you call what has happened if it is not disastreous? Look at what is going on! The 7 have created such consternation and anger within the party that I have never seen. 7 senators have decided on their own to transfer to themselves the representation of all people who voted Republican. My senators are Hutchison and Cornyn not McCain and Snow for crying out loud....but now I suppose I have 7 weasles for my senators. Its disguisting and maddening....and I want these 7 to pay now!

The real bottom line will be the Supreme Court nomination(s), won't it? If we have trouble getting our person (assuming she or he is a conservative jurist) on the bench because of the "agreement," then it will be curtains for some of these senators (as far as higher political aspirations go---I am confident most, if not all of them are safe in their home states).

I just shudder at the thought of a third party in 08...we must avoid that.

He kinda reminds one of Newt. I guess that he is compromised also. That's really going out on the limb - most there are compromised.

Making them pay not doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me. In a sense we lost the battle but not whe war. We can still get our person on the Supreme Court...time will tell...if we have trouble with the Supreme appointment, then maybe it is time for heads to roll...until then, we'll see.

And a bit tangential, but here goes: I disagreed with the comprimise but I understand one of the underlying reasons for it: the democrats could always win back a majority...then we'll want to filabuster judges, won't we?

Seems to me that Graham is a strong candidate for the "Strange New Respect" award. As a House Manager in the Clinton imoeachment he voted against some of the counts. He backed McCain over Bush and complained about the Bush tactics in South Carolina (which have never been fleshed out". Now he thinks he can make nice-nice with the likes of Kennedy and Schumer. Makes me think there might be some truth to the blackmail rumors.
