A 9-year-old boy's plan to honor fallen soldiers and sailors at his town's cemetary has been blown-up by the trustees of Edgell Cemetary, in Framingham, MA.
The boy started collecting money with which to buy the flowers several months ago and now has several flats of flowers he planned to put on veterans' graves. "There's one grave there that's 300 years old," he said. "Who's going to visit that one?"
Unmoved, the head of the cemetary trustees appeared in the report, snarling, "This cemetary is private property! We have our rules and we do not allow people to put anything on a grave unless they are a relative!"
Local veterans are appalled but their pleas have not moved the cemetary trustees.
Edgell Cemetary
maybe they should rename this the EDge-of-Hell Cemetary instead.
There are BLUE NOSE graveyards full of BLUE NOSES all over the country. They don't wish to be bothered. That's why they're there.
Can you explain on the Bluenose and y they would want to be left alone?? I didn't know if your being sarc. :)
What a bunch of assholes.
There really are BLUE NOSES. It's not just that you and I think they are, so do they!
"I knew it. I'm surrounded by assholes".
From Spaceballs.
I'm tempted to advise the kid to go ahead anyway (assuming he can do so in a non-disruptive manner) ... and to alert the local news media, lest the cemetary staff attempt to physically stop the kid. (I suppose the staff could call police, but something tells me that the police might be "too busy" to respond to such a call, if you get my drift.)
He should go put them on a cemetery full of Confederate soldiers and stir up a whole different kettle of fish!
Not many of those in MA...
I don't know where you went to college, but where I come from the word "cemetery" does not contain the letter "a."
Your loss.
This is a damnable outrage. Even for Massachusetts.
"What a bunch of assholes."
Correction:
What a bunch of Massholes.
Sorriest state in the Union.
Something to keep in mind the next time you are looking for a vacation destination or someplace to do business...
I once was condemned to serve at Hanscom AFB. Lived in Lexington. There is simply no way I would willingly go back there.

Your loss."
Reminds me of a certain young, not so mean-at-the-time, West Texan who went to Harvard. He got lost and was looking for some obscure library that was not on the directory (there are/were many).
He stopped a professorial-looking type, asking, "Excuse me sir, do you know where the XYZ library is at?"
To which the professor replied, "Son, now that you are at Har-vard, you should know not to end your sentences with a preposition."
The now somewhat-more-mean West Texas thought a bit, then replied, "Excuse me, do you know where the XYZ library is at, asshole?"
Framingham was old-time Italian for many years. Then it added a sizable 'Rican and Brazilian population. The former is mostly gone now (dead or in jail), and the latter has risen to become a slightly conservative middle class.
There is also a recent influx of snobs who have ruined the town with their money and politics, removing the word "Christmas" from schools and replacing the guns on their historic toy-soldier statues with candy canes.
This boy's story is another fine example of what Framingham has become...
