Is there anyone in the Senate more vain and more stupid than Jeffords?

I think the threat of pressure from women and from minority groups had a LOT to do with it.

Thanks sister, I think it did too.

I am trying to ascertain the mood of Democrats in the wake of this vote. Conservatives are still mad (myself included).

The dynamics of this are still full of 13 curves.

Hey--that's a name for another band---"13 Curves."

A lot more Senators voted for cloture than were in on the 'deal'. Curious how so many that found Owen to be extremely dangerous have flipped.

Excuse me, but I thought Liberman was one of the 14 who were not going to oppose Owen?

Yep, Lieberman the moderate, LOL!

For the life of me, I can't figure that guy out. His votes are probably the most unpredictable in the whole Senate.
You just don't know where he's going to come out on a given day. I still think he may someday become a Republican.

My friend, I was being sarcastic. Lieberman is not a moderate. Lieberman is very predictable. Lieberman is a balls to the wall liberal. Lieberman's ACU rating for 2003 and 2004 was zero.

Can't get more predictable and liberal than that.

Not sure you're right. He is a Demorat, to be sure, but I get the feeling he's not happy with his Party. He may still entertain some aspirations of leadership within his Party, but his position on several issues is more moderate than most of his colleagues'.

I still feel that someday he'll switch Parties.

Lieberman's voting record over the last two years as rated by the ACU is 0% conservative.

Lieberman, on occasion does talk conservative. Possibly, that's why you might think he is more conservative, but he's -- not.

Update me on her possible opponents. Do you still have a favorite among them?

If you go to the site, it says

Stevens (R-AK), Present, Giving Live Pair

Does anyone know what that means?...(and I don't need any twin-sex jokes...I KNOW this crowd)....

Inouye was absent and by previous agreement, Stevens paired his vote with Inouye (one YES and one NO to cancel each other out)

The final vote is 55 to 43, If Inouye had been present it would have been 56 to 44.

Thank you so much! I really do appreciate your wisdom and education!

It makes sense if Inouye had to be away...and is a nice collegial gesture...if it would be a wash.

I disagree.

They drug all these nominees around by the nose for 4 years.

Women, black, hispanic and even southern peckerwoods too (Pickering and Pryor).

They are above race/gender politics unless practicing it.

They made their deal because they knew they would lose the judicial filibuster "tradition of 4 years" so they found enough silly Pubbies with their own agenda lead by Queegiac to pull a win of sorts from a certain loss.

The Dems don't feel squat about identity politics unless they can exploit it.

Landrieu's vote was probably a polite concession, since I believe Louisiana is in the appellate district where Owen will preside.

LOL...preside on what...the corruption case?...Good thinking Landrieu...Duh!

Do you think that the Democrats feared criticism from women for not confirming these judges (Owen) and Brown (soon to be confirmed)?

I don't know...but its sure been fun asking libs....WHAT? ...You don't believe in Affirmative Action?..*G* drives 'em CRAZY!
