WAUSAU, WI (AP) - Two people found with 160 neglected dogs, cats and other animals in their Marathon County home were sentenced to three years probation during which they will not be allowed to own or come in contact with animals.
Mary E. Morse, 42, and Clark W. Petitt, 58, were sentenced Thursday after authorities found rabbits, dogs, cats and goats living in unsanitary conditions in their Hamburg home in December.
Several of the animals had to be euthanized and at least four puppies were found in a kennel with feces halfway up their legs. Many were not given enough food and water.
Assistant District Attorney Patricia Cal Baker said probation officials would work closely to get counseling for the pair.
"I don't think anything would be accomplished by adding jail time now," she said.
Both Petitt and Morse pleaded no contest to the charges.
What an awful story.
No hot dogs for these Hamburgers is the PUNishment.
You are cur-rect. They should hound these people for being no better than terrierists.
Freeper Freepun' Ping!
Fangs for pinging everyone.
That's bull, dog. They ought to just shepherd them into a cell--or put their butts into a stock and whippet good. Al satian ing them is okay, but there ought to be real criminal penalties if there is intentional cruelty involved.
"Fangs for pinging everyone."
You oughta be caned nine times for that one. That pun's dog tired.
Tired? I thought it used pretty Sharpei wit myself. Sorry if it gives you paws. I'm trying as hard as I kennel. You kinda Russelled my feathers, Jack.
I don't know if I should Dane to reply to these mutterings. LIE, you always Kommondor respect, and HR comes up with great puns if you Pointer in that direction. Still, stories like this one breed contempt for the people who do it and make me feel downright Pugnacious.
What a cockapoo story. It should be standard for such a heinous crime to spend some time in the big pen. This is not a piddling tempest in a teacup. Vet they need is not counseling. Leash this couple alone and they canis start the whole abuse all over again. Don't be collie me a PETA member, but akita the whole mess is that cruelty to animals should be swiftly and apso-lutely punished.
Oh, Brother! *Rolleyes* ;)
