Exhausted Clinton Cancels Trip to Maldives
Las Vegas Sun-AP ^ | 05/28/05 | SHIMALI SENANAYAKE

Posted on 05/28/2005 11:50:07 AM PDT by Pokey78

MALE, Maldives (AP) -

Former President Clinton has canceled his trip to tsunami-hit areas of Maldives because of exhaustion, a U.N. official said Saturday.

Cherie Hart, spokesman for the U.N. Development Program and coordinator of Clinton's visit, said the former president, who underwent a heart bypass operation in September, was not sick.

"He's plain pooped and he wants to slow the schedule down," Hart said.

Clinton, who recently was appointed U.N. special envoy for tsunami recovery, will keep his scheduled appointments in the Maldives, but will not tour areas devastated by December's giant wave.

Heard the news on Fox. My first thought is that he's exhausted from not being PAID to make the trip.

Ever the cynic where clintbilly is concerned.

it's not called, "Around the World" for nothing.

POOR ENGLISH BUT HE SURE IS.

"He's plain poop and he wants to slow the schedule down," Hart said.

Maybe this is a way to dodge the lawsuit from that Italian restaurant he stiffed.

He'll claim "exhaustion" forced him to skip out on the reservations without the courtesy of cancelling them.

No... they'll wait and opportunistically time that closer to HRC '08. She'll be playing Florence Nightingale between casting votes in the Senate and attending county fairs in Iowa.

to the luxury resort of Kurumba, about 10 minutes away."

Must be tough. Private jets and 5 star resorts.
Hope the tsumani victims weren't holding their breath for help from the great white dope.

Seriously, I wish him good health, and I wish Bill & Hillary would retire to the farm and and stay out of politics!

In other words, he sucked all the publicity he could out of this story while it was still front page news. If a comparable disaster would hit somewhere tomorrow, he'd be there with as much vigor as a meth-head with an eightball and a fresh pack of U-100's.

A U-100 was the true factory numerical designation for the smaller Ford Bronco made from 1966 to 1977. The "U" meaning utility. 100 meaning light duty half ton capacity.

(grin)

Special combo state funeral.......

Clinton and Carter

Then old Hill might get the sympathy vote.

Believe she's thinking about it!

Bill should hire a food taster.

Yeah, we'll have a state funeral on the eve of the NH primary. Then he'll make subsequent appearances for Hillary's campaign.

I'm not a big fan of his, but still I think many of the comments mean spirited. I think his heart was in worse shape than we thought and he is sicker than we have been led to believe. While he is traveling first class, his schedule is probably too strenuous for his condition.

Perhaps he should adjust to a less demanding and more sedate lifestyle at least for awhile.
