Sunday Times via IranFocus

IRAQ’S most wanted terrorist has fled the country for emergency surgery after an American airstrike left him with shrapnel lodged in his chest, according to a senior insurgent commander in close contact with his group.

Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, who has a $25m bounty on his head after being blamed for suicide bombings, assassinations and the beheadings of western hostages — including Ken Bigley, the Liverpool engineer — is now believed to be in Iran.

He has suffered from bouts of high fever since being wounded by a missile that struck his convoy three weeks ago as he fled an American offensive near the town of al-Qaim in northwestern Iraq, the commander said.

His condition late last week was described as stable, but supporters were said to be preparing to move him to another non-Arab country for an operation to remove the shrapnel.

“Shrapnel went in between the right shoulder and his chest, ripped it open and is still stuck in there,” said the commander. Officials in Washington believe that US forces may have lost their chance of capturing or killing him for now. “If he’s got to Iran, there’s not much we can do,” said one. Uncertainty has surrounded the fate of the Jordanian-born Zarqawi since The Sunday Times reported two weeks ago that a doctor at Ramadi general hospital in western Iraq claimed to have treated him for a wound that was bleeding badly. Supporters were urged to pray for him and some reports suggested that he may have died.

Hey, RW, I wasn't doubting for a moment that you heard it! I was just musing that Brilliant's interpretation sounded more in tune with the ABC we all know and loathe.

Most likely they were reading straight from an Iraqi Army news release. Iraqis wouldn't be using the same PC lingo we have come to expect from our own neutral MSM reporters.

Maybe they're just jerking our chain .. hoping we'll believe one of their stories. Why that would matter to them I have no clue.

This is appearing more and more to be the case (faking Zarqawi being injured) - And the purpose for this....to simply create an confusion they can (whatsoever) and hopefully knock of off Z-man trail (even just a little bit).

The rumor mill on Zarqawi is 24/7. One possibility, is that he's already dead, maybe for sometime now, so a continous flow of rumor's about him put out by his closer associates that know the truth keeps him 'alive' to keep up the morale of lower minions. More likely though is he is wounded and hiding out somewhere in Iraq still, but I'd bet most of the info we get is nothing but rumor and any facts that slip by are probably months old.

All of what you posted above could be true (or parts of it) - Though, I am being to suspect Zarqawi was never seriously wounded (if even wounded at all) - This is looking to be more of a rouse now than anything else -

"This is appearing more and more likely to be the case - Zarqawi was probably never wounded to begin with (or hurt only slightly....non-serious) - Yet, it turned into this larger rouse for any number of reasons."

Roger that. Z-man has been running for his life of lately. If he had to leave his computer, personal sack, etc., in that car he escaped from last month, that stopped underneath an overpass, so he could jump out and run for it, while the Iraqi police/army where hot on his trail, he knows how close he came to biting the bullet.
And most probably our military folk that are asked by reporters are going along with it. There will continue to be ops up and down the Euphrates west/east NW of Baghdad up to the Syrian border in all the cities and villages. And each time one or more of our Marine BN's start a new operation, we shall see more of the Iraqi Army getting in on it. At least that's my take on things in mid and northern Al Anbar province. Could be wrong but it just makes sense to me.

Gene Sharp learned how to turn nonviolence into a weapon - and helped quite literally change the world.

Laura Secor, The Boston Globe:
A CURIOUS THING started happening in the formerly Communist world in the year 2000. One after another, hated, repressive governments gave way to mass movements of nonviolent refusal. First there was Serbia, then Georgia, then Ukraine, and now Kyrgyzstan. It was as if a virus were spreading - one that led long abused populaces to wake up to their own power, which they could withhold from authorities to stunning effect.

But it wasn't a virus. Among other things, it was an 88-page booklet by a Boston scholar named Gene Sharp, which has circulated in local translation at the site of every one of these nonviolent democratic revolutions. READ MORE
Here is a portion of his book in Farsi.

Here are a few other news items you may have missed.

or he is in Syria (the most likely).

Or he went out through Syria, but then was flown to Iran. Now that the Iranians are claiming he's in a hospital in Jordan, I'd say the chances of him actually being in Iran went up considerably.

ME: Why not treat him in Iran?
YOU: Iran is a "Non Arab country" they are Persians, not Arabs.

I understand that. That was not the issue. One of the bordering states, Syria, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Iran, could have been used to slip him in and have his wounds treated. The issue was not if a country was Arab or not. And Iran, since it has ties to so many terriorist orgs, and have allowed Zarqawi entrance in the past, could easily been a good choice. Obviously at this point, it is a none issue since they where obviously putting up a smoke screen as to his condition.
