Google likes to put up nice little drawings on just about every holiday possible (always using their name "Google" as the centerpiece). Today --Memorial Day--- nothing...
Very rude and a spit in the face of our soldiers IMHO...
I agree - I went to Google to look up the origin of Memorial Day, expecting the same picture, but nothing. It probably was meant as an insult.
Dogpile has a bouquet of white lillies!! Send your business to dogpile. I already complained to Google. Google is run by a bunch of spoiled-rotten sissy boys. They can't be bothered to remember where their freedom came from.
Thoughtless, I'll agree, but it's a stretch to call it a spit in the face.
Definitely not surprised. Coming right off the heels of Queen Victoria Day in Canada might have caused a backlog of cute little graphics needed to be made.
Billionaire leftists. It seems impossible that someone who lives the Capitalist American dream could urinate on it, but it happens all the time in LeftWorld.
The Drudge Report, Free Republic, Microsoft, Yahoo, ESPN Net, those are all popular websites too. Are they bad as well for not incorporating a Memorial Day theme into their logos?
It is a bad decision on Google's part, but it hardly rises to the level of spitting in the faces of our troops. That would take a direct action to denounce the troops.
They had a graphic for that didn't they. I seem to remember it.
This is ABSOLUTELY on purpose. Check out the "suddenly billionaire" google princelings. They sent huge bucks to John Kerry.
Google is run by a bunch of leftists who have in the past used their search engine to promote the left's agenda. I only use Yahoo now (they are leftists too, but at least they keep it out of the searches).
Even on Earth Day Google had a little animation icon of plants and animals....
National Teachers Day they did the same thing too.

And who can forget the ever momentous World Water Day?
I will NEVER use google again.....that's it for me!
And the communist "International Women's Day".
I'm aware of the Google political connections, but I think they worship the dollar more than anything else. I doubt they would intentionally piss off anyone who is a potential profit. We'll have to disagree on this one, but thanks for the dogpile suggestion - looks like a good search engine.
No Veteran's Day graphics either.
You are obviously unaware of the various days that Google has recognized by changing their logo on those days, such as International Art Day, St. Patrick's Day and so on. Not doing so on Memorial Day is a direct and intentional spit in the face of the US military.
As I have indicated before, Google is one of the most leftist companies in the valley.
I agree. I remember they had a dripping bucket logo to celebrate "water day" right when Terri Schiavo was being dehydrated. It seemed a bit tin-foilish to think that was done on purpose, but this one? It's a national holiday and we are at war!
They hold a double standard on sidebar advertising.
They also include DU among "news agencies" in news.google.com despite their hateful rhetoric and death threat posts.
Google administrators do acknowledge that there is a line which would cause them to drop a "news agency" but they claim that DU has not crossed that line.
Email the PR department of Google and ask if they company does not feel it worth noting on their website, why do they give the employees the day off?
You are obviously wrong.
Yes.
It is rude of them.

If anyone knows how to get O'Reilly's ear, I think this from Google should be "most ridiculous". If they take note of Earth Day, they can be respectful of those who gave their lives to make it possible for silly little geeks to become rich in Free America.
You are guilty of the same naivete that caused some conservatives to regard with bafflement the refusal of the major publishing houses on the East coast to publish conservative books, in the face of obvious commercial successes enjoyed by such books. Why, since these companies were ostensibly for profit, would they consciously refuse to publish surefire bestsellers?
Ann Coulter ran into the same issue when 3 major publishers turned her down before her latest was published. When asked the reason, one reportedly said that the main goal of that publishing house was to further national dialogue!! Imagine that.
Welcome to the world of the avowed leftist ideologue, where they would cut off their own nose, just to spite their opponent.
I e-mailed them my concerns.
They didn't put anything up for Christmas Day, either. For a few days leading up to Christmas, they'd had some polar bears in a little scene, and that stayed up all throught the week up to New Year's Day.
What's the addy?
Kind of a snap judgement on your part, don't you think? You feel it's impossible for someone to recognize the liberal bias in many companies while also believing Google probably didn't mean this as a "spit in the face"?
Your missing an important aspect. Those sites you mention as a rule don't have any holidays or commemorations incorporated into their logos or sites at any time, Google does. Google manages to remember every lefty and pagan "day" celebrated regularly.
Halloween:
International Women's Day:
Martin Luther King Day:
Earth Day (every year)
Ray Charle's birthday:
They purposely leave out Christmas every year and now have sunk so low as to "forget" memorial day this year. You mean to tell me they can commemorate Ray Charle's birthday yet not our war dead?
From now on it's dogpile for me. Goodby Google.
I just scrolled through the past years' logos. Doesn't look like they've ever recognized Memorial Day. Nor Labor Day. But they have quite a few quirky ones like World Water Day and Leonardo daVinci's birthday.
So, maybe if they received some polite requests from folks who would like to see artsy logos on the mainstream American holidays, they might try and oblige.
Or maybe not. Who knows?
Went to 'google', typed in memorial day...list of web sites...then chose 'images'---received several pictures designating 'memorial day'.
Seems to work for me....
Don't use google for primary search tho
One of Capitalism's greatest strengths is the money-making opportunities it gives to anyone. However, this same strength gives Capitalism its greatest weakness, because if anyone can make money, then people who want to destroy Capitalism can also make money from it. When they do, they can then fund their dreams of destroying Capitalism. Think of Soros and Michael Moore.
Fine. But let me ask you this question. What if Google ignores 4th of July and does not put up a commemorative motif in their logo? Would you then agree with me?
The issue is that they change their logo for some really obscure days, but not Memorial Day.
Same here. I switched my homepage and search page to Dogpile.
I'm sure they had special colors for their annual May Day celebration.

GOOGLE HOLIDAY LOGOS FROM 1999 TO 2005
I use Google a lot but never thought about how they don't change their logos for the meaningful holidays. I emailed them about this and will give dogpile a try. Thanks.
Can't find any "news agencies" links or anything pertaining to DU.
It is the fashion among the very rich high-tech geeksters to hate America. I know some in Central Texas...
