Shrinking From The War Against Jihad? - The West is headed for abject submission...
theOneRepublic Journal ^ | 5/31/05 | Bruce S. Thornton

The images of Muslims rampaging over rumors and unproven allegations of “Koran abuse” are troubling--but not because of the behavior of the mobs. What else should we expect from fanatics whose religion justifies in them a toxic combination of arrogant superiority, spiritual entitlement, and corrosive resentment over history's repudiation of their inflated estimation of their world-historical role? Their minds addled by this brew, they find it perfectly reasonable to believe gratifying fantasies in which 9/11 was the handiwork of Zionist agents, the United States has spent lives and treasure liberating Iraqi Muslims in a scheme to acquire oil, and Jews are the masterminds of a sinister plot to oppress Allah's darlings.

No, what should trouble us is our own response. For the past week high- ranking officials of the United States government have been falling all over themselves assuring the rioters that we really, really do respect their “holy Koran” and would never, never sanction such disrespect. We like their religion, we really do; we respect and honor it and its marvelous contributions to civilization. And what have we received in exchange for all these protestations of respect and esteem? More riots and more contempt.

I don't know if this behavior expresses the administration's true belief or if it is a PR tactic. Either way it's a huge mistake that reflects the failure to understand what and who we are dealing with. The idea that everything the Islamists do is a reaction to what we do is a dangerous delusion. They have their own reasons grounded in their religion and its history, a history of aggressive expansion against the infidel that confirmed Islam's superiority...

Sounds like the thoughts of the average du.com/moveon.org member.

Geez. Do you believe everything you hear and read?

Must be nice living in the nursery still.

The ironic and confounding thing is that 78% of Jewish people still voted for Kerry (according to Ha'aretz) and his anti-semitic agenda. There has to be some way the GOP can change this pattern for the next presidential election.

Well, there seems to be no shortage of people who feel guilty for living in prosperity and freedom.

Well, I was told I've already "submitted to Islam" because I liked "Kingdom of Heaven".

This behavior smacks of the modern version of what Bat Ye'or calls dhimmitude, a psychological submission to Islam that accepts one's own cultural inferiority.

If not for this acceptance of inferiority, "diversity" would not be nearly so hard to stomach. You can deal respectfully with different cultures without trashing your own. This is a lesson never understood by academia and I don't really understand why.

I have a different take. We pay lip service to their 'r' while their fascistic regimes fall, one by one. If we keep this up pretty soon even the mullahs won't be able to spin the outcome, jews or no jews.

..."I don't know if this behavior expresses the administration's true belief or if it is a PR tactic. Either way it's a huge mistake that reflects the failure to understand what and who we are dealing with."

But we do understand, and it's called — The Bush Doctrine.

It is the building- block policy to face the threat of Islamic radicalism. Despite the current claims that the United States is hated, hopelessly naïve, bogged down worldwide, and back in another Vietnam, (since Afghanistan) we have witnessed a historic emergence of a comprehensive foreign policy to confront Islamic fundamentalism and its parasitic relationship with Middle East autocracy — without which it cannot survive, IMHO.

The end of the Taliban and Baathist Iraq, including the freedom of 40-50 million oppressed people are impressive accomplishments. So are the scattering OR hunting down of al Qaeda and the Killing OR arrest of hundreds of terrorists & insurgants.

Shrinking from the War, I don't think so !

Yes, and 'tolerance' means putting up with something unpleasant that you don't like, not liking something that's unpleasant.
