Here we go folks! This is just the beginning of this thing. It is going to get UUUGGGLLLYYY!!!

By the way, why are we still harping on what happened so long ago and has been somewhat healed, but it is still going on around the world? Where is the outrage?!! There is none because this is all just a big "gimme mines". I'm glad most black folks I know and hang out with don't have the Al & Jesse mind sets! Thank God. Too bad though that there are great numbers out there in our land waiting for their big payout courtesy of the terrible white man. Ain't gonna happen people.

I've never quite understood how it's possible to sincerely apologize for someone else's trangression.

Or how Company A, who bought company B, who 50 years earlier bought company C, which had previously aquired company D, which had purchased company E, which earlier purchased the mergered companies F&G, and company G had earlier bought H, which happened to have used slave labor, so clearly Company A is an evil company that needs to not only apologize, but pay reperations.

I'd like to sincerely and grovelingly like to apologize to every human being, animal, plant and inanimate object for everything bad that ever happened to them, and also for the good things that happened that might later have had bad consequences, through the actions, inactions, or indifference of any person or thing I ever had anything to do with, was descended from, might have been descended from, if they hadn't married someone else instead, owned a piece of, thought about owning a piece of, or never heard of.

And whatever it was I did, I'll never do it again, unless I really feel like it.

Phew! What a weight off my conscience!

Those First Union a-holes are going to run the formerly-excellent Wachovia name into the ground, too.

Part of the driving force behind the First Union/Wachovia merger was that First Union needed to get rid of its name, and with it its reputation.

Okay, I'll bite. What is a reupholster and who's wetting themselves? Isn't this why were are here to discuss news items out there and give and get opinions on those items? Call me crazy, but that is why I lurk around here and if you don't like the topic and the discussion we are having, then leave and go find a thread you like. It's very simple. I hope that was friendly enough and not taken as a jerk.

"any person or thing I ever had anything to do with, was descended from, might have been descended from"

Don't forget to include anybody you might happen to slightly resemble, as to skin tone.

I'm well aware of that, which is why I said "too." Plus, a specific, geographic name being bought and relocated to what is, let's face it, a carpetbagger town, grates my nerves as well.

My bad!

I'd also like to apologize for being White, for my Irish ancestry, for probably having some other ancestry that's not Irish, for being an Anglo and an American Citizen and not an illegal alien ( I mean, undocumented immigrant, sorry!), and for the actions of my Viking forbears, particualry the raping and pillaging, which must have been a lot of fun at the time but which wasn't nice. And I apologize for forgetting to apologize for all the above, and for not being a disabled Hispanic lesbian of color.

I admit it...I'm a slave to fashion.

Now, who's going to give me my apology? (And some $ wouldn't hurt, either.)

Maybe all you NC Natives should just move to counties int he state that don't have carpet baggers. And while your there, you can enjoy the double digit unemployment.

"I'm sorry."

ROTFLOL!

"On behalf of Wachovia Corporation, I apologize to all Americans, and especially to African-Americans and people of African descent," said Ken Thompson, Wachovia chairman and CEO. "We are deeply saddened by these findings."

Ken Thompson must be either collaterally or directly related to Tom Daschle.

Doubt it -- Only "protected groups" are entitled to the money. In other words, "PAY UP, SUCKAH".

No such animal, not anymore. And, I believe you misunderstand "carpetbagger town." If your presumption of meaning were accurate, every city over 100,000 in the state would be defined as a carpetbagger town. Look to the Reconstruction era for reference on that one, not recent history.
